In our final post on the recovery efforts at our Old Fort, NC location, we want to highlight the extraordinary generosity and teamwork of our North American employees and customers. When the call for help went out to our global employees, they answered quickly and generously. Several Auria employees traveled to Old Fort from other states to volunteer their time and support to those in need and to help restart production while affected employees took time off to recover. For those employees that weren’t able to make the trip, they showed their support with over $17,000 in donations to help provide food, water and other necessities to the Old Fort employees and their families. Our customers also answered the call, along with local, state and national charities by sending shipments of supplies to our employees and community members in need. It has been said that hard times often bring out the best in people. In the wake of the storm, a group of Old Fort employees put their own personal needs aside and began running regular aid missions to local mountain communities that were cut off from main routes when flooding took out roads and power. In the evenings and on the weekends, the group used their own means to bring in supplies and offer aid by tarping roofs, cutting trees and rewiring homes for power. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork, resiliency and perseverance of our NA employees and grateful for the generosity shown by of our global team, our customers and the humanitarian organizations that went above and beyond to help.

In our previous post, we shared news of our plant in Old Fort, NC being in the direct path of the intense hurricane storms, leaving it without power, water or sewage. In the aftermath of the storms, the Old Fort team quickly organized a storm recovery operation aimed at providing immediate aid to our employee families, while also focusing on restarting production as soon as safe to do so. With the top priority being the safety and well-being of our employees, all production workers received a paid week off of work while the team worked to clean up and prepare to restart production. With power out and city water and sewage compromised, the next step was to create a self-sustaining “Auria City,” from which they could provide, food, water, shelter and basic necessities to employees and families in need, while working to reinstate production. The team, along with support from Auria’s procurement group and others, went above and beyond to accomplish the following in very short order: -???????Digging two wells onsite to supply water for production and potable water needs -???????Renting multiple mobile homes/trailers for employees and families whose homes sustained damage -???????Providing hot meals each day to all employees -???????Providing multiple porta-potties and self-built hygiene stations for employee hygiene needs -???????Collecting donations to create an Auria Store onsite where employees could get free snacks, water, hygiene items, cleaning products and other necessities More to come on the ongoing efforts of the Old Fort team and the generosity of our North American employees.

Our plant in Old Fort, NC was in the direct path of the intense hurricane storms that devastated 27 counties in western North Carolina. Despite losing power, water and sewage, the floodwaters didn’t breach the plant. This allowed our local team to shelter employee families displaced by the storm. The acts of solidarity, generosity and heroism from Old Fort and North American employees have been remarkable. When the flash floods hit, several team members even risked their lives to rescue a colleague stranded on his nearly submerged vehicle in rushing water. Stay tuned as we share more stories of their incredible efforts in the coming days.

We are pleased to share that QiuMing Yang [CHOO-ming Yahng] has been appointed as our new president and CEO, effective July 22, 2024. He succeeds Brian Pour, who is stepping down after leading the business for the past seven years since its inception. Yang has served as our executive vice president and managing director for Asia/RSA operations since the company’s formation in 2017, in which time he expanded the company’s customer base, while adding five new manufacturing facilities in the region. Yang will be based in the company’s operational headquarters in Southfield. We want to thank Brian for the invaluable impact he has made on Auria and wish him all the best in his next endeavor! Congratulations to Yang on his appointment!
