I was 16 years old and skating with friends at the Ottawa Park Ice Rink in Toledo, Ohio. I started my period with no supplies. I remember panicking and rolling my own tampon out of toilet paper and then racing to trade in my skates for shoes to make a speedy get-away. At the time, I never imagined a world where I wouldn't have to leave. But just 11 years later, that world is a reality. It is extra special to see my home town adopting Aunt Flow period care in city bathrooms. This initiative will help 16 year old girls keep skating, community members keep enjoying, and employees keep working.
