Patients want to be treated by doctors who stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in their field. Last week Drs. Amber Patterson, Christopher Brooks, Monica Kraft, and Adam Pearlstein attended the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology - AAAAI Annual Scientific meeting in San Diego, CA where thousands of allergists/immunologists from all over the world came together to discuss what’s new in our field and how we can translate new medical innovations into reality for our patients. Dr. Patterson led an intriguing session called “Immunotherapy Unleashed: Exploring Next-Gen Allergen Immunotherapy,” where colleagues Drs. P?l Johansen, Mohamed Shamji, and Jody Tversky led attendees on an illuminating journey about advancements in intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT), virus-like particle extracts, and multi-allergen immunotherapy. These next-gen therapies fit well with the general session theme of #climatechange and its impact on #pollen #allergies in that newer allergy treatments using fewer treatment sessions and reduced quantity of medical supplies can help patients with allergies feel better faster, and with less medical waste.

?? Wondering about the long-term benefits of allergen immunotherapy? ?? Kudos to our European colleagues P?l Johansen et al for recent research in JACI Global which sheds light on lasting effects! ???? Studies show that for many allergy sufferers, immunotherapy can provide relief that lasts for years beyond treatment completion! Previous studies have shown continued benefit of intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT) for at least 3 years after treatment, but it's challenging to follow patients for long periods of time, especially when they feel good, so no one had studied longer than that. This new study, a follow-up to the first ILIT vs SCIT trial shows 76% of ILIT patients still symptom-free or reduced symptoms 19 YEARS AFTER TREATMENT! ?? Results were similar and not inferior to SCIT results. From reduced symptoms to decreased need for medication, it's a game-changer for managing allergies. Ready to say goodbye to sneezing and itching? ?? Check out this enlightening article to learn more! #AllergyRelief #Immunotherapy #LongTermBenefits https://lnkd.in/gHHgUF3t

Is sniffling and sneezing "normal" for you this time of year? So many people accept feeling miserable as part of spring life. Auni Allergy? ILIT? Learning Network Member Dr. Meagan Shepherd from Shepherd Allergy explains how ILIT? works to give people with allergies a better life and notes the history of intralymphatic (lymph node injection) research dating back to the 1970s. #allergies #pollen #ilit #newbutnotnew https://lnkd.in/gSyXSjRH

Ever wondered about how a new medical innovation makes it to routine patient access? It's usually decades of clinical trials and millions of dollars. That's why many effective and safe treatments never attempt the formal approval pathway. Enter Healthcare Learning Networks. Originally described in military, manufacturing, and business fields, Learning Networks are making their way into the healthcare field and disrupting the status quo. Our Learning Network, modeled off the work that Cincinnati Children's is pioneering, is bringing together doctors, patients, and researchers to move the science of allergen immunotherapy forward. Join us on our journey. https://lnkd.in/gNjySsDY
