They've got in-house medical management that will optimally control your claims spending, right? Having it all in one place is just easier, right? ??♀? They'll take care of us, right? Wrong! You can check that box all day long ? and there still won't be anyone identifying the right patients, engaging those patients, pointing them to the right care, ensuring that timing of their care was appropriate, or getting them into the right place for their care. There was no Care Management. Oh sure, there may have been Care Watching, or Case Reporting, and the group may even have been paying for something labeled as Care or Case Management Services, but in reality they turned out to be nothing more than glorified (and well paid) historians...reporting to the group where their money had gone rather than managing what was causing the cost to occur in the first place!??
