Joel Fitzgibbon GAICD bring to your roles in supporting our manufacturing businesses is contagious! It was a privilege to share space with industry leaders and view cutting edge technologies during the day, and the expert panellists provided great insights and updates on projects. I made many valuable new connections, including the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) which I am looking forward to visiting. Also taking the stage are two military veterans: Lieutenant General Alan L., former Director, @Defence Information Systems Agency, the US Department of Defence combat support agency responsible for providing IT and telecommunications resources to the nation’s war fighters; Ret. Col. Mike Jernigan combines knowledge of government and a chief of staff role – he spent thirty years as a United States Marine and was Chief of Staff of @Marine Corps Installations East. Also on stage is Adam Nowak, Chief of Staff at Microsoft Federal, which leads the business operations for the technology giant’s division that deals with all US Federal Government agencies. Got to see some impressive Iterative Manufacturing (3D Printing) examples at UTS, last week as part of the most recent AUKUS Forum seminar series. In particularly the ability to print a mesh - like Chain mail - using whatever metal was required. This will lead to weight reductions in many items. I was also impressed to hear that the price for high end metal printing machines & associated scanners is now at a point where a suburban mechanic's workshop will consider buying one. Imagine having a bracket for your vehicle printed in the workshop for $8 rather than ordered in for $350 - if available at all. Makes my dream of converting a classic car to EV slightly more real.
