Transforming Case Notes into Actionable Insights for Child Welfare Leaders

Unsafe sleep is one of the leading causes of child fatalities. This should serve as a wake-up call for all of us. For child welfare professionals, it is essential that every family with an infant understands safe sleep practices to prevent these tragedies. Ensuring these conversations are happening and documented isn’t just a best practice—it’s a critical safeguard. With Augintel, agencies can quickly identify missing information and confirm no critical discussions slip through the cracks. It’s a simple yet powerful way technology can support frontline workers in protecting children. One of Augintel’s customers saw a 30% improvement in missing safe sleep discussions simply by tracking them. That’s 30% more families receiving essential guidance. 30% more opportunities to prevent tragedy. What other areas in child welfare do you think could benefit from better tracking and visibility? Let’s keep the conversation going. #ChildWelfare #SafeSleep #AIforGood #Augintel

A former Social Worker who's delivering AI to Social Services | People & Technology

It’s National Social Work month!??? First and foremost, I must say that being a social worker takes courage, patience, empathy, openness & capacity. ?So, we’d like to thank each of you for your commitment to the field! It is truly life-changing work – for the social worker and for the children & families you all serve. And I’m pleased to have been a social worker along my career path, advocating for the safety & well-being of children and families in the city I grew up in. Today, I still consider myself an advocate for the social services field, but in a pretty unique way. Here at Augintel, we position ourselves as a company that doesn’t just make software, we make software uniquely for child welfare and social services. We adhere to the needs of social workers, leadership, and other staff who find value in further promoting a clearer, holistic approach to children and families. One of the things I’ve come to appreciate about Augintel is that several times per month, I find new ways staff can use the tool based on user feedback and stories from the field. Not only does the tool surface key information in case notes – typically a tedious task to retrieve and sift through without AI and Natural Language Processing tools – Augintel recently helped staff discover notes that were missing from their cases. Notes that were required to be put into the case management system; notes that could potentially impact the quality of the case or impact services. Queries, or data-driven reports in Augintel, created an opportunity for leadership and staff to come together to identify gaps, improve the quality of case notes, and promote accountability & transparency across the team. It’s absolutely important to hear from those who are doing to work. And as a former child welfare worker, being seen and heard was (and still is) a top priority of mine and for the families I helped each day. If you’re a social worker or know a social worker: we see you, we hear you, and we want you to know that we partner with you along your journey. Happy National Social Work month! ?? #nationalsocialworkmonth #aiforsocialgood #ai #nlp #augintel #nlpinaction #childwelfare #childwelfaredata #caseworkers #staff #socialwork #socialworkers #march #newmonth #happythursday #valued #seen #heard #youmatter

Director of Customer Success at Augintel

In my role I often witness “aha” moments and they always refresh my energy and drive for this work.?? Recently, for example, I was catching up with a Child Welfare Director and sharing some ways Augintel is supporting leaders in her position by surfacing information across their organization. Whether it is mentions of pregnancy and housing insecurity to ensure a full understanding of client needs or monitoring if parents have been notified of a court hearing, Augintel is getting information buried in narrative in the hands of those who need data to fully understand and address challenges.? When I mentioned a recent request to understand youth impacted by both child welfare and juvenile justice, her eyes lit up. She has this need herself and was just in a meeting trying to figure out how to get a count of youth in her county child welfare system who have a probation officer. She and I reflected on how this sort of information always makes it to case notes, but the structured data capture is not always reliable. The good news for her is that Augintel can help.? I have found that it takes these sorts of “aha” moments to catch on to a new solution – people must experience a need that they have right now being supported and then the ideas start flowing.?I am happy to say the requests for more insights from narrative are not slowing down!? #Augintel #childwelfare #NLPinAction #ChildWelfareData

Delivering AI and NLP to HHS Agencies @ Augintel | Enterprise Sales, AI Solutions

One of my favorite features of Augintel is the "Case Worker Safety" query alert. Child welfare workers are being asked to take on more cases each and every day. They are working tirelessly to support children and families while also being tasked with reading and understanding an absolute mountain of historical notes in their case management system. So often staff don't have the time to go back to review all narrative data on a newly assigned case before their initial home visit. As such, young caseworkers are finding themselves knocking on doors not knowing what they might be walking into - yet all the history is in their case management system. Augintel's "Case Worker Safety" query utilizes our child welfare-centric language model to scan for all mentions of historical weapons, violence, dangerous pets, etc. in the case notes and automatically notifies caseworkers of related topics throughout the history of the case to ensure staff are properly prepared for their visit. This happens in real time - no scanning legacy systems for notes hours on end. Staff are reporting that they feel supported, cared for and safer with this simple query. The tools are available to make real change in the caseworker's experience. What other information does your staff need to know quickly but requires hours of mining thousands of notes? #Augintel #childwelfare #NLPinAction #workersafety #ChildWelfareData

Our customer success team - Allie Wexler, Tracy Rohrdanz, Brittany T. and Stevvaie Turner share some of the things they are thankful for this Thanksgiving. A LOT OF GRATITUDE, A LOT OF IMPACT We are grateful – for those who work with children & families and for those behind-the-scenes who make critical, informed decisions in child welfare. We are also grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them. As a Customer Success and Implementation Team, we understand the importance of ensuring that social services professionals come first in the world of innovation and modernized technology. ??? While technology can assist and equip social services professionals to do even more with their casework in an efficient way – like discovering information deep within the case management system or identifying siloed information within various case notes – the people are our true champions. ? We are thankful for?our customers and their “Stories from the Field” Family Finding? One thing case workers and staff are grateful for is the ability to use our tool to find relatives, which not only saves them time, but also supports workers in their entire family engagement process. "I use Augintel to engage with the family. I typically go start to the people tab and see who we may have missed." - Caseworker Supervisor? ? "In Greater Waltham we have begun using Augintel to help find relatives. This search process is completed whenever a case is opened. It has proven to be very helpful in locating family when children are separated from their parents." - Area Director? Accessibility & Search Staff use search in many ways to meet their immediate needs, eliminating the need to manually search for critical case information in more than one place.? ? "My role requires me to read through the entire record and Augintel makes that process simple and easy.? It’s by far the best tool the agency has provided us since I’ve been an employee (12 years)." - Caseworker II? ? "I would describe Augintel as the Google of our cases especially for new caseworkers. I have used it when reviewing my new cases more-so than with cases I have worked on for a while. I am able to get all the information I need quicker." - Caseworker? ? Insights & Alerts?? Staff have shown great appreciation for the helpful reminders and alerts they receive, which delivers information to them at the right time as they prepare for their workday! "Worker safety emails have been really helpful. Recently a worker received the email about a previous worker being bitten by a dog, so it was really useful information for them to have prior to visiting the home." - Supervisor? ? “I use it several times a week. It is helpful in quickly going to things like Substance abuse, DV, etc. It makes for a better assessment overall.” - Clinical Screener?? ? This Thanksgiving season, we are grateful for each of these experiences and for those who serve vulnerable children and families every day.
