Oral History Conference 2024 week has arrived ????
Hey, if you’re in the world of oral history, I hope to see you starting this Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in Cincinnati Ohio for the Oral History Association 2024 Annual Conference. You’ll find me in the exhibit hall representing Audio Transcription Center, which is the firm I’ve proudly worked for since January 2006. Come by and find me for some freshly printed, first of it’s kind, ATC swag. Also, don’t forget to trick or treat, so if you’ll be there drop a comment below if you have a favorite Halloween candy you’d like to see on the table. I’ll do my best to make it happen! Also, in the exhibit hall, let me ask you a question or two about being an oral historian, and talk with me about your roots in the world of oral history. That’s right, allow yourself to be the narrator for a brief moment (I know, unheard of), and I’ll be there recording and wearing your oral historian shoes (just make sure they’re a size 12 please). After the conference, we’ll send you a copy of your recording, and of course a transcript to boot. We’ll also send a copy to OHA for the archives. ***Please note interviews will be limited to just a few minutes per person. You’ll also find me as part of a panel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. around transcription, indexing, and AI. I’ll be presenting about transcription style guides, in a session my awesome colleagues and I have titled, “Oral Historians Have No Standards - At Least Around Transcription Style Guides!” It’s on Halloween, so I hope it isn’t too ghoulish! I look forward to catching up, or meeting you for the first time! Special thanks to my partner in ATC marketing (and just all the other hats she wears on all the fronts) Ms. Hanassa Wicks for all of her hard work and dedication working to make this an awesome #oha2024 conference for us.
