Shout-out to Audible and Scholastic for bringing the audio edition of Suzanne Collins' fifth Hunger Games novel to fans in an unexpected, thrilling way. This month, we launched a campaign for 'Sunrise on the Reaping' featuring immersive, audio-forward creative and content with narrator Jefferson White. Experience the #HungerGames in an all new way:?adbl.co/4censn0?
Two words: Dystopian Marketing! ?? Picture this - my friend and I are walking to the subway after dinner and the street is empty except for us. All of a sudden we hear this ominous voice calling out, but there’s no one there. We look around, our eyes searching for a possible explanation, but none comes up. After some wary investigation, we finally identified the source of the mystery: An Audible billboard for the new Hunger Games book “Sunrise On The Reaping.” The so-called voice we heard was coming from two small speakers attached to the top of the advertisement, broadcasting a short story from the book's main character, Haymitch Abernathy! Pure genius if you ask me. What I love about this marketing tactic: ??The dystopian feel of the ooh stunt directly correlates to themes in the book series ??NYC is a busy place, leaning on audio is a clever way to sneak up on the consumer in an unexpected (and slightly terrifying) way ??It wastes no time with an introduction or disclaimer and forces the listener directly into the story Well done, Audible! I may just listen to my first audio book because of this billboard. ??
