Malaysia Airlines’ Airbus A330-900neo has officially touched down at Auckland Airport! Yesterday, we welcomed the first arrival of their next-generation aircraft, marking an exciting milestone for travel between Auckland and Kuala Lumpur. With 28 spacious Business Class suites featuring privacy doors and 269 Economy seats, this aircraft is designed to offer a smoother, more comfortable, and more efficient journey. Malaysia Airlines will now operate the A330-900neo on four of its eight weekly flights, replacing the A330-200/300. We’re proud to be part of this fleet evolution, as Malaysia Airlines is the only airline operating regular A330-900neo services at AKL. At Auckland Airport, International Women’s Day isn’t just about celebration, it’s about action. On Monday, we brought together the wāhine (and some of our male allies) of AKL for an event focused on career growth, networking, and mentorship. Research shows that strong professional networks are key to career success, yet women often face barriers in building them. That’s why we provided speed mentoring and networking opportunities alongside insights from inspiring guest speakers. ?“The event left me feeling empowered and reminded me of how supportive our airport community is. I think it’s important to create a space outside of our day-to-day roles to connect with other incredible women, share experiences and think about where we might want to take our careers.” - Kristina Jeffery, Commercial Performance Business Partner "This event was an opportunity to reflect on our careers and share experiences with other women in the organisation. It was inspiring to discover common challenges and recognise the strength in supporting one another”. - Colinda Rowe, Waste Minimisation Manager. Our commitment to gender equity goes beyond IWD, including: → Wāhine Toa Career Mentorship Programme – accelerating female talent into leadership at AKL → Parental leave enhancements – 18 weeks full pay for primary carers, 6 weeks for partners → Menopause support – a new toolkit and awareness initiatives → Period equity – free products in all staff bathrooms in partnership with Dignity NZ Period Care. While we’re proud of our 50% female board and executive representation, we’re pushing further to ensure 40:40:20 gender balance across all leadership tiers. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, learn, and support each other. #IWD2025 #WāhineToa #Leadership #GenderEquity #WeAreAucklandAirport

We work hard to reunite lost property with their owners, but for the unclaimed goods, we work with ME Family Services (Mangere East Family Services Centre Inc) to give them a second lease of life. Last year there was over 9,000kgs of leftover airport lost property they gave away, including prams, sports gear and blankets.? “We don't want to see these items ending up in landfill or gathering dust at the terminal, it’s so much better they are re-homed for good,” said our Chief Operations Officer Chloe Surridge. “As a business we are working towards a target of reducing waste to landfill by 20% by 2030 compared to 2019. We’re currently tracking to 15% below 2019.”? The items from AKL are mainly used to stock ME Family Services’ ‘Resource Room’ onsite in Māngere, which acts like a store but all goods are free for those in need.?? CEO of MEFS Carole Tana-Tepania said: “It’s all about giving back and it’s so fulfilling. We see families walking away with bags full of items.” If you lose something at Auckland Airport, please contact us as soon as possible. We’ll work hard to track it down and get it back to you.?? Phone: 0800 AIRPORT (0800 247 7678) option 4 or email: [email protected]? Lost property items are held for between one to three months (depending on the item), before they are re-homed.? If items are left behind on the aircraft or luggage is mishandled, please contact your airline. Chloe Surridge | Carole Tana-Tepania (Ngāti Hine) | Colinda Rowe

Auckland Airport has been the starting point for Kiwi overseas experience (OE) since the 1960s. It’s long been a rite of passage for young New Zealanders but it is changing. We’ve released a new report revealing the past and future travel trends shaping the OE.?? Key facts from our new report into the great Kiwi OE show:? In the past, 39% of Kiwis went to London on their OE, however this has decreased to 30% of Kiwis planning an OE to London. Instead, cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Vancouver, New York, Tokyo and the State of California were gaining in popularity.? Rather than living abroad, Kiwis now prefer shorter OEs more like an extended holiday. 42% were less than three months, and 60% planning a future OE expect it to be less than three months. Staying longer than a year overseas dropped from 28% in the past to 10% for future. An increasing number of Kiwis are having OEs later in life. More than half were planning an adventure after they turn 40 and one in five in their sixties or older.? However, the OE is still a rite of passage for those in their 20s.? ? Head to our website to download the report for more information.? ? Bringing on the world since 1966. https://lnkd.in/gQKzX-ty

?? AKL January highlights ?? January at AKL is our birthday month and we celebrated with a new tower crane. Working on our new domestic jet terminal construction “Harriet Can Carry It” joins two other tower cranes on the busy site. It wasn’t just construction action – 5 January was the busiest day at the international terminal for five years, with 36,000 travellers that day. It’s quite possible a few of them may have picked up a bottle of Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Reserve Privée – this warm, spicy scent inspired by whisky was the most popular fragrance purchased through online duty-free. What the numbers say:? - 1.8 million travellers? - 1,060,000 travelling internationally (up 4% on January 2024)?? - 703,000 domestic travellers (up 2% on January 2024)? - 87% average load factors for both international and domestic flights? - 13% more Australians – that’s 14,000 extra people hopping across the ditch.?

This May, our Chief Digital Executive, Richard Wilkinson, is trading his desk for 25kg of full firefighter gear and 1,193 grueling steps - all for a cause that makes a real impact across Aotearoa. Richard will be joining our AES Fire Rescue team, including AES Crew Chief Tony Scott QSM, who founded the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge. Tony, one of our own, started this challenge in 2004, and today, it stands as one of New Zealand’s most impactful charity events, raising millions for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBCNZ). Every day, eight Kiwis are diagnosed with blood cancer - a battle no one should face alone. Last year, our AES crew raised an incredible $144,482, with Tony topping the individual leaderboard. This year, we know our team will bring the same fire (and sore legs!) to help even more people. Help get behind Richard and the team! Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Auckland Airport and construction partner?Hawkins?recently invited the young creative minds of?Jean Batten School?and?Mountain View School?to help name our newest crane. As part of the Domestic Jet Terminal development, this will stand tall on our precinct for the next five years. The crane went up recently with the new name resplendent on the cab,?courtesy of Smith Crane & Construction Ltd ?? Rochelle's winning entry earned her a $300 Prezzy Card, a miniature model crane, and $1,000 for her school, along with a celebratory class BBQ.? Our runner-up, Lola (also age 8, from Mountain View School), impressed us with her entry, “Lifty”, taking home a $200 Prezzy Card and a miniature crane model. Five merit awards of $100 Prezzy Cards, went to standout entries from Jean Batten School students with their prizes kindly sponsored by our subcontractor partners?Complete Reinforcing, Live Firm Group Limited,?Henderson Demolition, Vuksich & Borich(NZ) Limited, and?REVEX PILING.?
