It takes more than just a good idea to start a community-based business, let alone build that venture into a flourishing enterprise poised and strategically well-positioned for exponential growth beyond its home base. What?began?as a business idea presented by Brooks Fuller (‘22 Finance) in the?New Venture Accelerator’s?Halloween Pitch Competition?in 2021,?Room2Room?has since become a full-service business entity employing upwards of 85 employees (mostly students) serving the Auburn University student body in dorms and high-rise complexes as well. And now Brooks and his team are expanding?to their second campus – the University of Mississippi in Oxford. Tiger Cage Finals Are This Friday! Six finalists in the Auburn University Tiger Cage Business Idea Pitch Competition will compete for $105,000 in early-stage startup capital plus $13,000 of in-kind legal services and design services this coming Friday, March 28th in the Broadway Event Space and Theater located in Horton-Hardgrave Hall. The event begins at 8:30 and is open to the public. All aspiring Auburn entrepreneurs are encouraged to come see what this flagship Auburn entrepreneurship program is all about. Auburn Names New Entrepreneur-in-Residence. Lee Hicks has joined Auburn’s New Venture Accelerator as a part-time volunteer EIR. Lee has an extensive entrepreneurial background and is the founder and chairman of?Revenue One, a trusted advisor in go-to-market strategies and execution services. Lee is a seasoned business leader with diverse experience across global public companies and private equity-backed technology and services organizations. His expertise spans general management, P&L, product management, marketing, business development, finance, operations, and sales. Lee recently served as a judge for the semi-finals round of the Tiger Cage competition and has also helped XO Armor with introductions at Emory Healthcare and is encouraging a student he knows to apply to be accepted into the New Venturer Accelerator Program. In addition to working with the NVA, Lee also helps Eddie Birchfield teach a Management and Entrepreneurship course where he shares his marketing and sales experiences. “I want to say how truly honored and excited I am to be joining the New Venture Accelerator team! Held at the Auburn University Building in Birmingham, AL, the event was hosted by the Greater Birmingham Auburn Club, and featured presentations by Harbert Dean Jennifer Mueller-Phillips, New Venture Accelerator Entrepreneurs-in-Residence leadership, successful student entrepreneurs and others driving the Auburn University Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.
