SPRI Fellow, Ana-Maria Dimand, LL.B., Ph.D. has co-authored a new paper on local governments' #GreenProcurement. Important motivators relate to stakeholders and nudges from nonprofits and interest groups. Read on! https://lnkd.in/eJh25BFA #greenpurchasing #greenpublicprocurement #sustainableprocurement #greenpublicpurchasing #sustainablepublicpurchasing #sustainablepublicprocurement #sustainablepublicpurchasing #procurement #purchasing #publicprocurement #climatechange #LocalGovernment #publicpurchasing
Have you read "Buying green in U.S. local government: Internal commitment and responsiveness to external pressures" by Ana-Maria Dimand, LL.B., Ph.D. and Milena Neshkova in Volume 102, Issue 2 yet? Using survey data from 210 U.S. local governments, the study finds that while both external and internal factors are strong predictors of buying "green", internal commitment matters relatively more. Additionally, local governments were more likely to buy green when nudged by nonprofits and interest groups, but less so when offered financial incentives by the federal government. You can read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/eJh25BFA

Last month the GSA Acquisition Policy Federal Advisory Committee Meeting delivered our final recommendations for how #GSA should advance the administration’s priorities on?#climate?and #sustainability through?#FederalAcquisition. I am particularly pleased to have chaired the?#AcqusitionWorkforce?subcommittee alongside co-chair Anne Rung, procurement leader and tech dynamo. Our subcommittee interviewed nearly 60 experts representing 17 organizations (public and private), and accrued hundreds of pages of notes that informed our work. The #GAPFAC's recommendations detail important next steps as the agency continues to embed sustainability considerations into federal acquisition:? ·??????Amplify GSA’s sustainability change acceleration strategy ·??????Adopt #lifecycle management for innovative entrants ·??????Adopt a principles-based sustainability data framework The following link gives you access to last month's recording and slides:?https://bit.ly/44RWZYC. You can also access the GAP FAC’s previous recommendations at this link as well. Special thanks to Boris Arratia and @Stephanie Hardison, our Designated Federal Officers, and David Cochennic who kept us on track and laser focused on issues that matter. David Malone, MBA,CPSM? Congratulations to Prof. Michal Pla?ek, SPRI Global Research Affiliate, for his promotion to full professor! Michal is doing important work in Czechia and beyond on #SustainablePublicProcurement (SPP) and public policy, including assessing SPP adoption and implementation success in #LocalGovernment. We are tremendously grateful to have him as a collaborator and celebrate this well deserved milestone! Bravo!
Today I was officially appointed as a full professor of Public and Social Policy at Charles University. I would like to thank a few people without whom I could never have done it. First of all, it is professor Franti?ek Ochrana (in the photo) and professor Juraj Nemec, who "discovered" me, always helped me and pushed me forward. I am also grateful to many great scientist with whom I can work, some of them have been with me for more than ten years and some I have met recently, it is Gabriela Daniel , Cristina del Campo , Prof. Vladislav Valentinov, Milan K?ápek, Milan P??ek, Nicole Darnall I am also grateful to the members of my apointment comitee, which included true legends of public administration and public policy Prof. Geert Bouckaert, Prof. Guy Peters, Prof. Michiel de Vries, prof. Thomas Steger, Prof. Jan Pavel. I don't want to forget my colleagues Hubert Topinka and Ji?í Valach, who tirelessly promote my work. I know I have forgotten to mention a lot of great people. So thank you and I hope to be able to return at least some of your kindness and help to students and those who are just beginning their scientific careers.

GAME CHANGER ALERT! Federal agencies are now required to prioritize the purchase of sustainable goods. As the U.S. federal government is largest buyer of goods and services across the globe, this new rule incentivizes supply chains globally to be more #sustainable. #greenpurchasing?#greenpublicprocurement?#greenprocurement?#greenpublicpurchasing?#sustainablepublicpurchasing?#sustainablepublicprocurement?#sustainablepublicpurchasing?#procurement?#purchasing?#publicprocurement?#climatechange?#purchasingpower?#publicpurchasing
