On Saturday, 15 volunteers packed fortified rice through Servants with a Heart at the Perry Brown Mission Center at Furniture Factory Outlet World. Osmani provided an update on the situation in #Cuba and shared how the rice will bless many people. Osmani coordinates and leads an annual EGIL training, which the acronym translates to General, Comprehensive Training of Leaders. This intense, weeklong experience challenges participants physically, mentally, and spiritually and is best described as a boot camp. Listen to a powerful testimony from one participant about how EGIL changed her life. ?"When my pastor invited me to EGIL training, I eagerly accepted, even though I knew it was very strenuous. I was afraid I could not complete the training. But I confessed my fears to God, and He responded with a transformative miracle in me! ?The first challenge was a long distance run. I asked God for strength, and by God's Grace, I finished the race well! After that, my fears faded, and I began trusting God more throughout the training. What began with fear and apprehension turned into an unforgettable journey. The avocados we recently bought at our local grocery store don't measure up to the size and shape of the avocados you can pick directly from the trees in #Cuba. Osmani shared photos of his avocado trees and other fresh produce grown on his farm. In #Cuba, children mainly play outdoors in the streets. Baseball is played with a bat or even a stick, and soccer is very popular. Girls enjoy jump rope. Other games include dominos, chivichanas, where children build racing cars from wood and ball bearings, and Bolas, shooting marbles or rocks. On a mission trip, we enjoy engaging with the children we meet. On one particular mission trip, Wayne B. Snyder led a game of Twister. If possible, we like to arrive early to a church service when we're on a mission trip. That gives us time to pray with the pastor and church leaders, become acquainted with the area, and prepare for the service ahead. We were fortunate to arrive early for this service.
