Routine HVAC cleaning can cut energy use by 41-60% and boost airflow by 10-46%! ??Attune contributed to this groundbreaking research paper, highlighting the impact of clean systems on efficiency and performance. Read more in the full study! ???
I am extremely honored to share that Attune contributed to the groundbreaking new research paper, "Impacts of HVAC cleaning on energy consumption and supply airflow: A multi-climate evaluation," published in Energy and Buildings! This research was conducted across four distinct climate zones in the United States and Europe (Vermont, Mississippi, Colorado, and Italy) in non-residential public buildings. The results of this study provide compelling evidence of the significant co-benefits of routine HVAC system cleaning, showing that cleaned systems achieved average savings of *41% to 60%* in fan/blower energy (with one exception) and supplied *10% to 46%* more airflow compared to uncleaned counterparts. Attune's integrated multi-sensor hardware and software IoT solution was utilized at the Colorado site. Specifically, data from the following sensor types were accessed through the Attune platform: - Differential Pressure Sensors - Clamp-on Flow Meters - Humidity and Temperature Sensors - Electric Power Meters This research demonstrates how continuous monitoring and proactive building hygiene practices such as HVAC cleaning can lead to substantial energy savings and improved ventilation performance. We extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated research team for their insightful work. This study brings critical awareness to the industry and provides a strong evidence base for the tangible benefits of routine HVAC hygiene.
