??? Moving Diego Rivera's "Pan American Unity" mural - Again! Atthowe just wrapped up the return of Diego Rivera's monumental 60,000-pound "Pan American Unity" mural from SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to City College of San Francisco. You may recall in 2021 we moved Rivera's mural from CCSF to SFMOMA. Both moves have been extraordinary undertakings that showcase our team's expertise and collaborative work with engineers, scientists, and conservators from?SFMOMA,?Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and Kiernan Graves of Site & Studio Conservation. As before, Atthowe’s rigging team meticulously removed the mural panels and encased them in protective travel frames to reduce vibration and jolting. Each panel was then craned out of SFMOMA onto trucks and slowly driven across SF over a series of early weekend mornings. The panels were carefully placed back into storage at CCSF. We're proud to have been a part of this remarkable multi-year journey. Stay tuned for part three when the murals will be moved once again into their final home at CCSF's newly constructed performing arts theater named the Diego Rivera Theater, planned to open in 2027. Say hello to Kilroy Oyster Point’s latest addition—a stunning sculpture by the world-renowned Jun Kaneko! True to Kaneko’s style, this piece is Untitled and part of his “Dangos” series, inspired by sweet Japanese dumplings. Standing at 9 feet tall, this ceramic beauty was officially completed in 2024, using thoughtful design to perfectly blend with the landscape. I had the amazing opportunity to document Project Equity's client, Atthowe Fine Art Services and their phenomenal journey in transitioning to #EmployeeOwnership. They took me to one of their recent projects, Hiroshi Sugimoto's "Point of Infinity" on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay. The passion and dedication that went into erecting this stunning piece is a reflection of the passion that embodies the humans in this powerful and inspiring business.

Materializing the Immaterial with Hiroshi Sugimoto's "Point of Infinity" Our Special Projects team is proud to have worked closely with Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and the San Francisco Arts Commission on the installation of "Point of Infinity." Standing at 69 feet, the artwork graces Infinity Point Park on Yerba Buena Island and serves as both a sculpture and a sundial. The sheer scale required FAA clearance and offers multiple sightlines in the city, making it a new iconic point near the Bay Bridge. Notably, it's Sugimoto's first major installation in the U.S. and the first permanent sculpture commissioned for the Treasure Island Arts Program. Installing Mildred Howard's Monumental Sculpture in Berkeley Recently Atthowe attended a ribbon cutting for the installation of Mildred Howard's sculpture "Delivered, Mable's Promissory Note" This 10-foot diameter, 3000-pound bronze piece, now sits at the corner of Adeline Street and MLK Jr. Way. In the weeks preceding, the Atthowe team worked closely with the artist and the City of Berkeley / Berkeley Civic Arts to install this significant piece. Crafted to honor the artist's mother, Mable Howard—a long-time community activist—and inspired by Congolese currency, the sculpture symbolizes heritage and resilience amidst the economic and cultural displacements faced by black communities.
