ATSR has extensive experience in developing designs that respond to a variety of philosophies . We thoroughly understand the needs and the vocabulary of educators as well as churches and congregations. The study, programming and design of schools and churches have been a major focus of ATSR’s practice and represents areas of particular expertise and interest for our staff. ATSR’s philosophy is that a successful building project satisfies our clients’ functional and aesthetic needs, while adhering to the budget and schedule limitations. Our function is to help our clients translate their needs into a physical structure. Therefore, communication and client involvement are the keys to the success of a project. Design is an evolutionary process — a collaboration between the architect and the building’s users and owners.

It would be tough to find a more perfect September day for some of our ATSR Planners / Architects / Engineers team to get out on the links to support the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF) at the annual “Putt-ing Kids First” Golf Tournament. AHEF cultivates equitable and innovative experiences for students through partnerships with compassionate people who have generous hearts. They do an incredible job providing grants for educators that go beyond the traditional school budget… and we love supporting our schools!

We recently had the opportunity to spend the day at the newest elementary school in Marshall Public Schools in Marshall, MN. Photographer Dan Francis helped us capture this new 85,000-square-foot sustainable facility that has become a gathering place for the community. Flexible team learning areas are designed throughout the facility, supporting grades 2-4 in classroom clusters with light-filled spaces. The district recently added solar panels making it one of Minnesota's most efficient elementary schools.
