Back in 2018, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. A question people often ask is: “How did you find it?” “It” meaning the lump. I usually say, “I wasn’t paying attention.” Here’s why: →At one point I believe my cancer was stage 0, but I wasn’t paying attention. →Then it grew and was stage 1, but I still wasn’t paying attention. →Then it grew some more and was stage 2, but I wasn’t paying attention. →Then it grew and spread to my lymph nodes, and I was paying just a little attention. By the time I did something about it, "it" was 3 inches. Breast Cancer Awareness month isn’t just about mammograms. ??It’s about knowing your body and keeping up with any changes that are happening. ??It’s about taking action when something feels "off". ??It's about having conversations with our daughters to also know their body. I hope my sharing my story this way encourages others to pay attention. Your future self will thank you. #breastcancersurvivor #breastcancerawareness
