Last week, we partnered with Novelis, a global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, to host a special celebration marking the conclusion of the Novelis Community Recycling Challenge at David T. Howard Middle School. The challenge encouraged students from all three grade levels to collect as many recyclable items as possible. The sixth grade emerged as the contest winners, collecting nearly three times the amount of recyclables as their competitors. To reward their outstanding efforts, students enjoyed a pizza party featuring a special appearance by CanMan, the Novelis mascot, along with entertainment from our ATL Dancers, Flight Crew, and DJ Stevo. Beyond celebrating the students' achievements, the event aimed to reinforce the importance of sustainability and encourage habits that promote environmental responsibility in the students daily lives. “It is heartening to see the next generation so committed to making a positive impact on our community and environment. Their dedication to recycling and sustainability is truly inspiring,” said our very own Head of Sustainable Strategy, Sofi Emma Armenakian. “We’re thrilled to partner with Novelis to host this celebration, recognizing the incredible efforts of the students at David T. Howard Middle School. This contest not only highlights the importance of recycling but also fosters a sense of responsibility and teamwork among the students. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Novelis and supporting initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.” “We are incredibly proud to see the enthusiasm and commitment of the students at David T. Howard Middle School towards recycling and sustainability. Their efforts in the Community Recycling Challenge demonstrate the power of collective action in making a positive impact on our environment,” said Greg S., Senior Vice President, Global Beverage Packaging at Novelis.
