Our recent HFTC Live! on Zoom event "Is Zero Trust Possible?" was a success, bringing together industry experts to discuss the intricacies of implementing a zero-trust security model. Our expert panel delved into various crucial topics, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to protect against cyber attacks, especially with the shift to increased remote work. We discussed managing corporate and personal devices, the importance of cultural buy-in, and the impact of new security measures on software development and business operations. Key highlights included: ?? Zero Trust Strategies: We explored principles like least privilege, continuous monitoring, assume breach, and micro-segmentation, and how they differ from traditional perimeter-based security postures. ?? Covid-19 Impact: The panel tackled challenges such as workforce expansion, Finra's mandated 4:1 inspection ratio, and geographic dispersion during the pandemic. ?? Technological Evolution: Insights into how cyberattacks have advanced, the rise of BYOD and IoT devices, and the integration of traditional perimeter technologies with Zero Trust. We are thrilled to introduce Viktor Tadijanovic, Chief Technology Officer at Atlas Technica, as a panelist in our upcoming HFTC Live! on Zoom event "Is Zero Trust Possible?" Prior to joining Atlas, Viktor Tadijanovic was the Chief Technology Officer of Drawbridge, overseeing its technology initiatives and providing comprehensive cybersecurity subject matter expertise to Drawbridge’s global clients. Viktor was also the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Abacus Group, a provider of IT services for alternative investment firms. During his tenure at Abacus Group, he served as the firm’s technology leader and principal architect of their client platform. Earlier in his career, Viktor was a Senior Systems Architect at the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), as well as a Technical Director at Eze Castle Integration, a managed service provider that delivers public cloud, private cloud and cybersecurity services to the global financial services sector, where he was responsible for managing technology delivery to hedge fund clients. Our Local Social Event at Riko's Pizza in Merrick brought together the tight-knit HFTC community in Long Island. The Long Island community is a strong backbone within HFTC, with many members being part of HFTC from its early years. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and also to welcome new members who got to experience the camaraderie we all know and love. We gathered around the table and engaged in meaningful conversations about the individuals we feel we can depend on in the industry. With Naresh H. Singh, CISSP as our host, he added an intriguing challenge by asking us to identify someone outside of HFTC. This exercise made us realize just how much we rely on each other within the HFTC community and highlighted the growth and development that we’ve all experienced alongside HFTC. Nostalgia played a big part in our discussions, with some attendees reminiscing about depending on others for different software products. We even delved into a fun conversation comparing VHS to Betamax, and talked about the days of Blockbuster and Redbox. The evening was filled with delicious food, including a large spread of wings and various pizzas that everyone enjoyed. We savored stinger margaritas and other specialty drinks throughout the night and capped off the event with an assortment of cheesecakes.
