Girders have been erected for Stage I replacement of Oakton Street Bridge over the Edens Expressway (I-94) for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). This project marks the first full bridge replacement for the Edens Expressway corridor to accommodate potential future widening of the expressway while also significantly improving vertical clearance and adding capacity for a protected multi-use path on the bridge for students traveling to and from the adjacent Niles West High School. As the lead structural and civil designer, Atlas Engineering Group, Ltd. is thankful to our team, partners, and IDOT on this successful project which will help improve vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian travel in the community.
