  • On March 7th, APD officers swiftly responded after receiving a report of a home engulfed in flames in Southeast Atlanta. Rushing inside, they searched the smoke-filled house to ensure everyone made it out safely. Thanks to their bravery, all residents were rescued. This is one of the many reasons the Atlanta Police Foundation proudly supports APD! Thank you APD for your quick thinking and heroism!?#APDProud #HeroesAmongUs #AtlantaPoliceFoundation #AtlantaPublicSafety

  • The Atlanta Police Foundation’s Repeat Offender Initiative is cracking down on career criminals while holding the justice system accountable. This groundbreaking program brings together top leaders from federal, state, county, and municipal agencies to ensure repeat offenders don’t slip through the cracks. At the latest Repeat Offender Commission meeting, officials tackled key challenges, set ambitious goals, and reinforced efforts to keep dangerous offenders off the streets. One major focus? Repeat offenders with firearms. In 2024, over 25% of repeat offender cases involved a firearm—despite federal law (18 U.S.C. 922) prohibiting felons from possessing or receiving guns. By demanding greater accountability from both offenders and the justice system, this initiative is setting a national standard for public safety. Atlanta is taking a stand—because keeping our communities safe starts with making sure consequences match the crime. At-Promise Centers find success keeping Atlanta’s young people on right path If she hadn’t joined an At-Promise Center, Teiarra Sims isn’t sure she would have graduated high school. Her mother worked long hours, and Sims said her home was empty after school. She didn’t take things like homework seriously. But it was after she graduated from Atlanta’s Booker T. Washington High School that Sims really found herself in trouble: She got arrested. “I thought me going to jail ruined my life,” Sims told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Once again, the At-Promise Center helped her through it, teaching her the crime didn’t define her. Sims, now 23, is an intern at the center and a mother and is attending cosmetology school. She credits it all to the support she continues to receive. In a major step toward enhancing public safety, Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta has increased the standard reward for anonymous tips leading to an arrest—from up to $2,000 to up to $5,000! ? Why? Because anonymous tips work—and the numbers prove it. ? ?? In less than three months into 2025, Crime Stoppers has already: ? Received 689 anonymous tips from the community ? Made 11 arrests; majority of which are violent crimes? ? Recovered $220,000 in illegal guns, drugs, and stolen property ? This game-changing increase empowers more people to speak up, leading to more arrests, safer streets, and stronger neighborhoods. #AtlantaPoliceFoundation #AtlantaPublicSafety #CrimeStoppers

  • Tier 3 of the Atlanta Police Leadership Institute (APLI) brings together sergeants, supervisors, and managers for leadership development and critical discussions on law enforcement management. APLI is a five-tiered program designed to prepare APD officers for increasing levels of responsibility. In a recent session at Georgia Power, 40 officers engaged in conversations about equity and the role of leadership in fostering fairness across departments. As the Atlanta Police Foundation works toward hiring 450 officers before the FIFA World Cup in 2026 and 600 officers over the next 36 months, programs like APLI ensure that future leaders are equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead with integrity and effectiveness. #LeadershipDevelopment #APLI #AtlantaPolice #AtlantaPoliceFoundation #AtlantaPublicSafety #FIFA2026 #FutureLeaders
