The Atlanta Christkindl Market? is a FREE annual holiday street market in Atlanta - and proud to offer its visitors a huge variety of traditional German and international products, craftsmanship, seasonal gastronomic specialties and new gourmet street food. Traditional gift items may include nutcrackers, German incense smoker, glass ornaments, holiday ornaments of all colors, materials and sizes, Christmas Pyramids, candle arches, window decorations, tablecloths, Plauener Spitze (modern German lace products from Saxony/Germany), one-of-a-kind handmade items that can be made and demonstrated on site, tea, handwoven winter wears, jewelry, wooden toys, wood carvings, crib figurines, wooden novelties, beer steins, special gifts and more. On the culinary side the Atlanta Christkindl Market? offers a variety of food such as pretzels, Currywurst, Schnitzel, Leberk?se (literally translates as liver cheese — a meatloaf made from finely ground corned beef, pork, bacon, onions, and further ingredients), and Bratwursts (there will be different types since the different German regions have different kinds of Brats), Stollen (traditional cake with candied fruits and nuts), typical German Christmas cookies, candied nuts (a popular treat at festivals in Germany like the Oktoberfest), and Quarkb?llchen (pastry). The market will also have drinks, and the most popular drink served at German Christmas Markets is Glühwein, a mulled wine made from red wine with cinnamon and other herbs and spices. Glühwein is available in other countries, but there is no German Christmas Market without Glühwein. The Christkindl Market is organized by the sponsored by the German-American Cultural Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting German language education and cultural celebrations throughout the southeastern US.
