We are pleased to announce that Quincy Frontiera has rejoined our staff as a Development Intern. Quincy will be responsible for assisting our Development Department in contributing to the planning and execution of fundraising events, including logistics coordination and volunteer management, aiding in the research and identification of potential donors, and assisting with donor communications. Quincy is originally from Villa Rica, Georgia, home to Troop 25g, where she graduated from South Paulding High School and currently attends Kennesaw State University, seeking to earn her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Quincy has spent her last four summers on Woodruff camp staff contributing to the summer camp experience of over 20,000 Scouts. Her work with the Woodruff Scout Camp Mountaineer Program has helped first year campers build scouting foundations and skills that will help in their scouting journey. Please join us in welcoming Quincy back to the Atlanta Area Council!

Eagle Scout alumni Grant Abouchar from Troop 525 in Peachtree Corners is a student at Western Carolina University and has spent much of the last week helping residents of Burnsville, NC recover from the destruction left by Hurricane Helene. He has worked with several agencies including the local fire department, FEMA, the National Guard, Border Control, and search and rescue teams in helping clean up the town and ensure the safety of its residents. Excellent work, Grant and thank you for your service!

Happy 100th Birthday to former President Jimmy Carter! President Carter has always been a strong supporter of Scouting and prior to his presidency served as both a Troop Committee Chairman and Scoutmaster. In 1978, the Boy Scouts of America awarded him with the Silver Buffalo. We are pleased to report that Atlanta Area Council camp properties experienced minimal to no damage from Hurricane Helene, and Woodruff Scout Camp and Allatoona Aquatics Base have resumed normal operations. Bert Adams Scout Camp is currently hosting Red Cross and emergency crews to assist those displaced by the chemical fire in Rockdale County and will return to normal operations this weekend.
