In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the healthcare system is facing a convergence of clinical workforce shortages, rising patient acuity, and the national mental health crisis. This “perfect storm” has dramatically extended hospital stays and left patients ready for discharge stranded in hospital beds.
