The National Defense Industrial Association - (NDIA) recently released its annual “Vital Signs” report series on the health and readiness of the U.S. defense industrial base. This year’s report argues that in the global race for economic and technological supremacy, the United States must efficiently, strategically and appropriately invest in defense acquisition to ensure the U.S. military and its industry partners achieve and maintain the readiness levels required to achieve national deterrence objectives. Specifically, the report calls out that government wants to encourage small and nontraditional companies to enter into the defense ecosystem, but is struggling to reduce significant barriers to entry and retention. At the NAC, ?we help members – including small and nontraditionals – effectively engage with government and collaborate within the defense industrial base and academia to leverage Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) opportunities to develop technologies that better prepare our warfighters for the battlefield. The Vertical Lift Consortium Other Transaction Agreement joins industry stakeholders at all levels in collaborating with the Government to speed development of technology and lay the foundation for future vertical lift (FVL) platforms. It allows for the industry’s most creative and innovative minds, using VLC as a conduit, to advance innovative FVL prototype concepts to the benefit of all Government end-users in the most cost-efficient manner.
