Bridging the gender gap in the funding space.

I have been lucky enough to be attending Bridge Conference in San Francisco, and meet fabulous female LPs, GPs (VCs), and founders, and also a few male GPs (thank you for participating in the great event!).

The takeaway that I’m happy to share:

-FACTS:?

1. only 2.4% of founding partners in the US are women (Women in VC report).?
2. And in 2023, only 2% of all capital funding was received by women.
3. It’s even worse for Black, Asian, Latin founders, and LGBTQ ones.

Female founders continue to struggle to raise funding. And if we don’t act, nothing will really change before 100 years at the pace of the current change.

-WHAT’S NEXT:

If you believe diversity drives innovation, we can move forward together:

1. Dear LPs, we need you to back emerging funds; please start the conversation before they are at the size of $25M; remember that 60% of funding go to 6% of the VCs; we can do better together.?
2. Dear VCs: when a male investor has one introduction in mind with a female founder or female leader, women investing have 10 to 20 in mind. Backing female investors is the best way to expand your network and build highly performing companies.

3. With Fab Fund I and now Fund II, we are grateful to be part of the Fab community, connected to other VCs with superpowers, and unique networks. We are thrilled to have already backed 25 startups in pre-seed and seed, 90% of them are founded by female founders, and first or second generation of immigrants.

We are inclusive by DNA. As an operator, I choose to invest in seed stage, in verticals that we know very well:

-consumer tech, sustainable fashion and conscious beauty/wellness,

-new commerce,

And we are obsessed by sustainability and impact.
