New Episode! Jim Cavale, Chairman of Athletes.org, is a serial entrepreneur that has realized college athletes need to have a group that brings them together to strengthen their development, growth, and future prospects in life. He created Athletes.org, which has gained great traction with countless college athletes signing up to be a part of it! Jim has an excellent ability to find ways to use digital technology to connect us further and enhance relationships. He previously did this with GLOW, helping women be more confident with a wider variety of beauty care options, and now is fostering a community of athletes. He shares why Athletes.org was born, what its core purpose is, and what is in store now! Thank you to Adelaide Matte for helping with this! Last night we filed a Motion for Leave to file an Amicus Brief on behalf of Athletes.org in the House v. NCAA case, attempting to illustrate to the Court the significant issues that college athletes will face even if the settlement is approved and that the settlement is no substitute for a collective bargaining process.

Former NFL star, JJ Watt, recently criticized the NCAA on social media, calling out what he sees as hypocrisy in college athletics. On March 23rd, Watt tweeted the above message. Watt also specifically criticized the timing of the NCAA transfer portal, which opened yesterday while the March Madness tournament is still ongoing. He called this decision "preposterous" and described it as "literally cannibalizing your own sport," comparing it to "NFL free agency starting the Monday after Wild Card Weekend." When a social media user suggested Watt's criticism only applied to top athletes at major programs, Watt clarified: "That's exactly my point. We've got kids who aren't 'making money' and will never go pro, yet they are traveling across the country midweek for 'conference games,' transferring schools, sacrificing studies for sport, etc. None of this is about what's doing best for the student." The term "student-athlete" is outdated in this current ecosystem of college athletics.

Imagine a world where sports legends only earn from their name, not their game ?? The NIL vs. Pay-for-Play debate hits different when you think about elite athletes like Saquon Barkley, Angel Reese and Patrick Mahomes earning ONLY from endorsements and not their on-field brilliance. What would change if the GOATS of their sports couldn't cash in on those game-winning moments? Would we see the same hustle? The same heart? NIL is pay-for-play in disguise for many in college athletics but without any benefits.

?? The first day of Women's March Madness is HERE! And it's more significant than ever as we witness history in the making. The 2025 tournament marks a new era for women's college basketball with stars like JuJu Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo leading the charge. Women's college basketball has seen explosive growth thanks to these new stars captivating audiences nationwide. Watkins leads USC with an impressive 24.6 points per game, while Notre Dame's Hidalgo is averaging 24.2 points and 3.7 steals per game. For the first time ever, the women's tournament is offering prize money to conferences and schools - approximately $15 million annually will be distributed to institutions from Women's March Madness. The big question remains: Will the NCAA finally address the gender inequity and ensure women athletes get their fair share of the madness? #WomensMarchMadness?#MakingHistory?#FirstDay

California in the Atlantic Coast Conference? Berkeley's a top-tier academic institution, yet their football team traveled more miles this season than the Earth's circumference. Jim Cavale asks: "How can that be good for students?" Cal and Stanford athletes are living pro schedules without pro perks. Joining the ACC means cross-country flights for regular games—65,000+ extra miles yearly (NYC to LA 20 times)! Imagine taking exams at 4AM after red-eyes from Boston or studying through turbulence while crossing time zones. As Jim Cavale points out, these 20-something students spend more time in airports than some executives, constantly battling jet lag while trying to maintain grades. Cal's throwing an extra million at travel costs, but money can't buy back missed classes or normal college experiences.
