Our Strength & Conditioning gym in Artarmon helps athletes find the answers to elite athleticism by bulletproofing their body and instilling the confidence they need to succeed. We live and breathe sports. It's what we love to talk about, be entertained by and see athletes succeed in. Our vision is to help athletes across the globe reach higher, achieve more and stay in love with the game for longer... because there is nothing else like the love of sport. While an athlete's goals may change, the pursuit of improved performance never ends. While an athlete's goals may change from season to season, there are two things that never will. The first constant is that every athlete wants to hold themselves to a higher standard. They want to raise the bar, push the boundaries and reach a level of performance they haven't had before. There is always the belief that you can reach higher and achieve more. The second is that they want to win. No athletes make the sacrifices they do so that they can turn up and lose. It's in every elite athlete's DNA. The desire to win is like oxygen for the soul. An athlete can't live without it. The only way to achieve this level of success is to develop a GamePlan unique to the individual. This GamePlan follows a simple philosophy that we turned into a training system: Minimise The Downside (Injury) While Pursuing The Upside (Performance). Whether you're an aspiring amateur or Australian Olympian, this system helps athletes at any point in their career reach a higher level of performance.     BULLETPROOF YOUR QUADS Regardless of what stage of the knee rehab journey you are at you will should always have some degree of quad loading in your program. Here are some varieties that I use at various stages of rehab. 1?? Reverse Sled Drag: A lovely option in the early stages. Concentric dominant contractions in shortened ranges will for sure get the quads pumping and rarely aggravates the knee. 2?? Rack Assisted SL Squat into TKE: This really assists in improving single leg squat control. Work into a TKE at the top range to further hammer the quad in inner range. A staple in the mid-early stage. 3?? Lying Leg Extension: A nice variation of the leg extension if you can set it up properly. Changing the hip flexion angle increases the length on the quad and at the end stage really helps to build some eccentric quad strength. 4?? Split Squat FFE: Control of the pelvis here is key. The focus is on the rear foot. Keep the trunk upright with a slow tempo on the eccentric and feel that quad cook. ?? 5?? Rack Assisted SL Squat Slant Board: When the knee is ready to tolerate it some heel elevated work is a great way to isolate the quads. The more we work the knee over the toe the demand on the quad increase. Using rack assistance allows you to really hit those outer range positions and get the quad strong in every range of motion. 6?? Skater Squat: A key end stage exercise. Ticks all of the boxes. If you can nail this on your injured side then you know you are in a really good position. What are your favourite quad exercises?
