We hope you've enjoyed learning more about how Athian works over the last few weeks as we took a closer look at each step in our process. If you're new here or want to revisit our approach, visit the link below. We are committed to connecting the livestock value chain by benchmarking, verifying and monetizing GHG reductions on farms and ranches around the globe. ?? Our team had a wonderful time connecting with both long-time and new friends at the Sustainable Agriculture Summit! The event brought together farmers, suppliers, processors, brands, academia, conservation organizations and the public sector for two days of learning and networking focused on advancing sustainability in U.S. agriculture. Thank you to all who made the Summit a success! We are excited to continue the conversations and collaborations for a more sustainable future. ?? #SustAg2024

Our CEO Paul Myer was on the Sustainable Agriculture Summit main stage yesterday for a panel on driving transformative action at the farm level – a topic that is perfectly in line with Athian’s mission. “No single company or producer is going to solve this challenge of scope 3 emissions on its own. We see our role as being an industry convener. Ultimately, it requires a group effort with everyone at the table tied into a single system we can agree on,” he shared. It was an honor to share Athian’s perspective alongside moderator Sara Wyant, Agri-Pulse; and fellow panelists Andrew Utterback, Ingredion, Inc.; Jay Watson, General Mills; and Mike Williams, Diamond W Cattle Company. The conversation provided many important and actionable takeaways on how food and beverage companies can work with suppliers to remove barriers and encourage widespread adoption of sustainable practices. #SustAg2024

Get to know our Chief Technology Officer Mike Bonner! He is instrumental in guiding Athian’s technology choices and providing vision for the future of our products and company. Mike leads our engineering team and oversees IT and compliance. Prior to joining Athian two years ago, he spent 20 years working in software for highly regulated industries such as human pharmaceutical research and financial technology. He is proud to be a part of the Athian team for two main reasons. First, because he gets to work with a “world-class team of high performing, passionate employees” who push themselves to deliver for customers. And second, because he gets to help farmers fund sustainable practice changes to improve the livestock supply chain. Mike grew up in a community with a lot of agriculture, so he has many friends who are involved in the industry and has developed a “soft spot” for farmers. He also feels especially connected to Athain’s focus on sustainability because he has two children and feels personally invested in seeing global improvements in sustainability for their futures. Reflecting on what motivates him in his role, Mike shares, “Everyone at Athian is able to make a significant impact for our company and, through our mission, a significant impact to improve our environment for the long term.” Thank you, Mike, for your vision and commitment to our team, customers and livestock producers. We appreciate you! #employeeappreciation #sustainability #sustainabilityjobs

Athian supports the Value Change Initiative letter to COP29. ??? As important conversations on global sustainability are happening this week, we believe one key topic must be how governments can help build trust and credibility in Scope 3 investments. As stated in the letter, this trust building should involve supporting and coordinating the implementation of robust MRV tools and mechanisms to collect data, ensuring interventions are delivering impact beyond carbon metrics. ?? Our message to COP29 ?? ? As COP29 approaches, we’re urging leaders in Baku to?prioritize value chain emission reductions and removals?in climate action plans. Our letter calls for increased awareness and action on Scope 3 emissions, supportive policies, additional investment incentives, and more to drive meaningful progress. ? The message is clear: impactful, sustainable change is needed across industries to tackle the climate crisis. Let’s make sure these priorities are heard at COP29. ?
