Kids are back in school, COVID is on the rise, flu season is right around the corner, and the holiday season is upon us. Time to prepare now to keep your residents healthy and your community safe from a communicable disease outbreak! Fittingly, August is Immunization Awareness Month. ?? Some things to think about: 1. ?? Most Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacies need to know now if the community will participate in a vaccine clinic so they can ensure they have enough inventory. Give your pharmacy a call and get a clinic on the books. 2. ?? Great News- They will come to you! No need to load up the bus, one of the perks of a LTC pharmacy partnership is that they will come onsite to host your vaccine clinics. 3. ?? Double Down- Audit your resident records to see who is due for a COVID and pneumonia vaccine. In addition to the flu vaccine, it's likely the resident's PCP will approve an order for them to have either a COVID or pneumonia vaccine at the same time. 4. ?? Regulation Review- With vaccines, comes paperwork.
