Something big I've been working on for A.Team is out: An in-depth survey of tech leaders to cut through the AI Hype and figure out what's really going on. Two years ago after ChatGPT came out, every analyst fell over themselves to project how much disruption there'd be by 2025. Well, now it's 2025, and inside most companies, the AI Revolution has been really slow to come. So I partnered with CINT to survey 250 (mostly enterprise) senior tech leaders in charge of AI and figure out what's really going on. Some of the findings: ??♀? Freelancers / fractional talent to the rescue: ? 85% of leaders have had to delay AI initiatives because of a talent shortage ? Companies using "blended teams" of FTEs and highly-skilled fractional talent are 2x more likely to reach advanced stages of AI innovation ? 92% plan to increase freelance engagements in the next 24 months ?? The Trough of Disillusionment might be over (or it was never really here to begin with) ?? 96% are INCREASING AI investments in 2025 (52% by over 50%) ??32% expect ROI from custom AI development in under 6 months ??67% anticipate positive returns within the next year ?? One of the dominant narratives about AI might be wrong? Most people talk about the immediate ROI from AI in terms of cost reduction—we can be more efficient, we need fewer people, etc. (Which is scary for workers!).
