Let's meet Tonia Whitney, who co-leads the Change Leadership Community of Practice for Association for Talent Development - Greater Twin Cities (ATD-GTC)! Name: Tonia Whitney Title: Change Readiness Consultant Organization: Engaging for Change, Inc. Q. What do you like most about your job? A. I love the dynamic nature of my work as an independent Change Readiness Consultant. Every day, I get to help organizations and people grow, align leadership with change efforts, and empower teams through collaboration. It’s deeply rewarding to drive user adoption and increase performance, while also having fun along the way. Balancing strategic problem-solving with the human side of change is what makes every day unique—and sometimes delightfully challenging! Q. Outside of work, what are you best known for?? A. Outside of work, I’m best known for always being involved in something! I love to give back, whether it’s serving on the board of the Minnesota Change Management Network, facilitating the Change Leadership Community of Practice for ATD-GTC, or acting as the treasurer for my daughter's high school cheer team booster club. Volunteering keeps me connected to my community. I’m also a lifelong learner, constantly seeking out classes, certifications, books, or new travel experiences to keep sharpening my skills and stay inspired. Q. Why did you decide to join ATD-GTC and even more, become a volunteer? A. I decided to join ATD-GTC because the mission of helping people do their best work aligns so closely with my own passion for driving organizational change and developing talent. ATD-GTC provides a unique opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded professionals who are equally committed to empowering others to reach their full potential. The programming, from Communities of Practice to hands-on learning labs, offers invaluable insights into advancing both individual careers and business outcomes, which I find incredibly fulfilling. Volunteering within ATD-GTC felt like a natural step because I thrive on collaboration and contributing to something bigger than myself. Facilitating the Change Leadership Community of Practice allows me to help others, while also learning from the diverse experiences of my peers. It’s rewarding to be part of a community that focuses on innovative problem-solving and professional development in such meaningful ways. Q. Do you have a favorite ATD event? COPs, Transforming Learning, Learning Labs, social events, the national conference, etc.? A. I’m a little biased – I love the Change Leadership CoP and how it challenges each of us who may be coming from different roles (instructional designer, leadership coach, change management consultant, HR practitioner, etc.) to consider how we influence change leadership and drive resilience in our companies or our clients. Thank you for all you do, Tonia! #changeleadership #professionaldevelopment Association for Talent Development (ATD)

??How are you incorporating experiential learning in your workplace???I attended an eye-opening session at the Association for Talent Development - Greater Twin Cities (ATD-GTC) on "Elevate Your Experiential Learning: Mastering Workplace Growth" with Beatrice Adenodi. Beatrice is the CEO and founder of Mirror Ink, Inc., and the author of the book "Mindless Behaviors". Here are my key takeaways: 1. Experiential learning is crucial - knowledge without application is dead! 2. Unravel problems by looking deeper than surface level 3. Embrace the 'elephant in the room' for real progress 4. Make content relatable to win your audience Beatrice introduced us to the People Matrix, which emphasizes understanding four essential elements about individuals: *Interests: What captures people's attention and motivates them to engage. *Motivations: The underlying drivers that inspire people to take action or pursue certain goals. *Voice: How people express themselves and their perspectives within the workplace. *Problems: The challenges or issues people face in their work environment. These elements are key to creating engaging, relatable, and impactful learning experiences that drive real behavior change.? Beatrice also shared some hidden forces that govern our actions.? ? Overcommitment ? Undervaluing visual and experiential learning ? Leadership bottlenecks ? Fixation on external influences ? Reactive decision-making The key takeaway...Cultivate Curiosity!? By embracing experiential learning, we can move beyond mindless behaviors and cultivate a more engaging and effective workplace learning culture. Thank you Mary Rapaport for organizing this compelling session. #ExperientialLearning #WorkplaceLearning?

Embracing Change: Insights from an Association for Talent Development - Greater Twin Cities (ATD-GTC) Change Leadership Community of Practice What is one word that you think of to describe change??? I recently participated in an enlightening session with Change Management Leaders, and I wanted to share some key takeaways: 1. Communication is king: Unified messaging and well-crafted communication plans are vital for successful change initiatives. 2. Resistance is natural: Coaching strategies for dealing with resistance and difficult stakeholders are essential skills for change leaders. 3. Trust is the foundation: Building trust goes beyond mere "buy-in" – it's about creating a culture of openness and collaboration. 4. Stakeholder involvement drives success: Involving impacted stakeholders in solution-finding and sharing ownership of the change process leads to better outcomes. 5. OCM and L&D synergy: There's immense potential in aligning Organizational Change Management with Learning & Development efforts. Thank you to Sara Newman and Tonia Whitney for your facilitation.?It was engaging and thought-provoking. #ChangeManagement #OrganizationalChange #ContinuousLearning
