We had a great time this week at the DRONERESPONDERS Public Safety UAS Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia, connecting with public safety professionals and showcasing our Flight Information Exchange (FIX) platform. FIX enhances first responder operations by improving situational awareness and ensuring critical data reaches decision-makers in real time. We were also pleased to introduce our new field engineer, Andrew Marsh, who joins us from western North Carolina. Andrew’s interest in drone technology was sparked after witnessing the important role drones played in recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. Andrew (right) joined Executive Director Scott Drew at our exhibit booth, where they had some great conversations about ATA Aviation’s solutions for first responders. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about our work — we look forward to continuing to support those who serve our communities. #publicsafetydrones #uncrewedsystems #UAS #drones

Many thanks to Middleburgh Heights Fire Department for hosting the drone safety demonstration for Congressman Miller. At ATA Aviation, we’re applying our experience in uncrewed aviation to transform emergency response and help first responders protect their communities. As NEOFIX grows, we look forward to seeing how Northeast Ohio will benefit from this innovative technology.
Drones are the future and the future is here! Congressman Max Miller visited Middleburgh Heights Fire Department last week to see how drones can be used as a first responder — delivering life saving medications in 90 seconds, assisting public safety with search and rescue missions, giving firefighters the ability to see the full picture of a fire before approaching the dangerous situation, and more! Drones give our public safety officers another tool to protect themselves and our communities. We are thankful for Congressman Miller's leadership on all things economic development and his passion for making this district grow and thrive. The NEOFIX Project — a public private partnership with Baldwin Wallace University and ATA Aviation — will bring that growth to our state, allowing drone operators to safely operate. We are excited to watch this project continue to grow!

NEOFIX (Northeast Ohio Flight Information Exchange) is working to improve airspace safety and advance drone operations. Through its RFP for drone sensors and equipment procurement, the program aims to enhance public safety and support advanced air mobility. ATA Aviation is assisting NEOFIX by managing key aspects of this RFP process, ensuring the selection of technology that meets the region’s needs. #Drones #Cleveland #NortheastOhio #PublicSafety #Aviation
NEOFIX (Northeast Ohio Flight Information Exchange) invites you to join us in shaping the future of airspace innovation by responding to our Request for Proposal (RFP) for drone sensors and equipment procurement. This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing airspace safety and efficiency in Northeast Ohio. Supported by funding from Cuyahoga County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 allocation and the Ohio One Time Strategic Community Investment Fund (OTSCIF), awarded to Baldwin Wallace University, NEOFIX is building drone-friendly infrastructure to attract business development and drive regional innovation. As a cornerstone of Northeast Ohio’s drone ecosystem, NEOFIX enables local governments and public safety agencies to share critical information, such as operational rules, public safety updates, and sensitive infrastructure details. This risk-based approach to building minimum viable infrastructure will also result in the cost-effective deployment of resources, enabling immediate next steps in advanced air mobility (AAM). The sensors and equipment selected through this RFP will define specific operating areas in the Greater Cleveland area and assess risk levels to ensure mission-tailored drone operations. These include Public Safety Drone as a First Responder for emergencies, medical delivery of small packages, detection of UAS incursions to safeguard critical infrastructure, and commercial surveying and videography. To learn more about the RFP and how to participate, please visit https://lnkd.in/gmk7hQ8Z. #drones #aviation #Cleveland #Ohio

The signing of House Bill 77 is a significant milestone for Ohio, ensuring greater accountability and public safety in drone operations while safeguarding critical infrastructure. Special thanks to State Representative Bernie Willis for his leadership in championing this new law. Together with NEOFIX, we’re committed to supporting these efforts by educating operators, encouraging compliance, and driving innovations that keep our airspace secure. #dronesafety #ohio #aviation #airspace
Ohio has taken a significant step forward in drone regulation with Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signing of House Bill 77, aligning state laws with FAA regulations. Sponsored by State Rep. Bernie Willis, this law enhances public safety by addressing reckless operations, interference with first responders, and unauthorized drone operations near critical infrastructure. This law sets a strong example for drone oversight, and NEOFIX will support its implementation by working to educate operators, promote compliance, and provide technological solutions to enhance airspace safety. #Ohio #Drones #UAVRegulations #FAA https://lnkd.in/dmd9BeJ6

In a recent conversation with Stuart C Mendel of NEOFIX, ATAA Managing Director John Eberhardt shared his views on the wave of drone sightings on the East Coast. He noted that while some of the buzz may be fueled by a public and media feeding frenzy, it highlights two critical challenges: the lack of situational awareness in low-altitude, uncontrolled airspace and growing concerns about security, safety, and privacy stemming from unlawful UAS operations. Addressing these issues requires a focused approach, with five key areas identified for potential action, emphasizing the need for collaboration between states and the federal government to ensure responsible and secure use of drone technology. #drones #UAS #Aviation
All, I've asked our Northeast Ohio Flight Information Exchange #NEOFIX colleague John Eberhardt of ATA Aviation for talking points to share regarding all the mysterious Drone activity off the east coast of the US in the news lately. This is what he came up with: "While there is clearly an element of public / media feeding frenzy to the drone sighting reports, it does highlight two relevant and ongoing challenges that the states, in partnership with the federal government, are well suited to address, namely: i) we generally do not have a good feel for what is happening in low-altitude uncontrolled airspace and ii) there are legitimate security, safety and privacy concerns pertaining to the unlawful operation of UAS.?With this in mind ,there are five potential areas of focus: 1. Ensuring that we have a full view of low-altitude airspace, which the current system is not designed to do; anything we can do to accelerate this, such as funding or FAA policy, will be very beneficial to all stakeholders; 2. We will need multiple sources of data and detection modes for aircraft, because 100% compliance is not realistically achievable and no one source provides enough visibilty by itself; therefore we need to empower state and local governments to collect, integrate, and share data; 3. We should leverage existing concepts that are already in limited deployment, such as integrating with UTM so that airspace surveillance data collected at the state and local level can be correlated to flight plans that are shared through state and local government as trusted agents; 4. Using the three approaches above, support state and local efforts to integrate these data sources and to provide conformance monitoring functions as a public function, which can be deployed scalably with a multistate working group; and 5. With low altitude awareness and data integration as a public asset, we empower state and local law enforcement to respond to potential incidents in an appropriate manner by having the legal authority to enforce existing FAA regulation."

We're excited to share highlights from our latest LiDAR scan of the property near Cleveland Guardians' Bridge. Operating a drone equipped with Dedrone by Axon Aerial Armor sensors at 300 feet above ground level (AGL), we completed an 11-acre oblique scan in just 38 minutes. The scan was based along the river near the stadium, offering fresh insights and valuable data for future planning. ? This technology provides real-time, high-resolution data that can be crucial for public safety and community planning. With the ability to stream live data through NEOFIX and its sensor network designed and installed by ATA Aviation, we offer continuous insights that support better decision-making for infrastructure projects, emergency response strategies, and urban development. ? Additionally, Remote ID helped make this flight safer by allowing real-time tracking of the drone’s location and identification, ensuring that the airspace was clear of potential conflicts with other aircraft. This enhanced safety, compliance with regulations, and smoother coordination in crowded airspace. With Remote ID now in place, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible for public safety and smart city planning. #drones #publicsafety #smartcity #lidar
