Today I joined virtually the Closing Conference for the National Autism Training Programme (NATP) hosted by Anna Freud and AT-Autism. It was good to hear from all the speakers and see some familiar faces (nice to hear from you Tom Cahill , Alexis Quinn and David Crisp PG Cert Autism Adults). Although I haven’t got personal experience of the NATP, what shone through as clear as anything was the passion the trainers had for the content, the considerable thought that had gone into making the training truly inclusive and the commitment of all to changing outdated views of autism. The recognition of the importance of lived experience trainers and the invaluable contribution they make was pleasing to hear. I really hope that this programme gets the funding it needs to continue as it is so important for services to change historic ways of working; by understanding the needs of autistic individuals as a result of the training, professionals can look to deliver better services and better outcomes, something which is absolutely needed. #natpmentalhealth

We were delighted to join NATP colleagues at Anna Freud yesterday to celebrate the successful completion of the National Autism Trainer Programme with a closing conference.

We will be in London today, celebrating the end of the National Autism Trainer Programme with our partners at Anna Freud. #NATPMentalHealth was commissioned by NHS England as a ground-breaking train the trainer programme. Co-led, co-designed, co-produced and co-delivered. Together we have trained over 5000 health, education and justice staff, working to build understanding, generate renewed energy and hope, and create #RipplesOfChange. This movement is now in the hands of our NATP trained delegates, as they deliver this programme back to colleagues in their own settings, and we are looking forward to hearing some 9f their impact stories at the conference today. #autism

It was great to welcome Prof RICHARD MILLS back to our campus on Friday to continue our collaborative work on evaluating wellbeing within our services. By creating spaces where individuals feel supported, understood, and empowered, we continue to prioritise the wellbeing of everyone we support. This longstanding partnership with The Donaldson Trust and AT-Autism continues to enrich our learning and development, driving meaningful wellbeing outcomes for those we support. Over 5,000 delegates across England are now trained to deliver this groundbreaking programme alongside NATP-qualified Experts by Experience in their #NHS Trusts, Residential Special #Schools and Health & #Justice settings. We are proud to have partnered with Anna Freud on the development and delivery of The National Autism Trainer Programme over the last three years, alongside so many people dedicated to improving care for autistic people. Whilst our time as organisations on #NATPmentalhealth is coming to an end in March, the implementation of the programme continues and grows.
