?? This week at LEAPS, we are celebrating 5 years of successful operation of our containerized power, water, and healthcare system deployed by Arizona State University, Pipeline Worldwide, Medical Teams International, SolarNow BV, and DIRTT in 2019. Five years ago, the Ayilo II Medical Clinic Container was deployed in Northern Uganda to combat critical health challenges, providing communities with additional medical services, sterile water, and reliable renewable power. Since its installation, the clinic has served the Ayilo II community of over 18,000 refugees, tackling medical scarcity and limited infrastructure. The clinic's success would not be possible without contributions from our partners, the sponsor support of the Office of Naval Research, and LEAPS team members, Nathan Johnson, Elena van Hove, Alexander Mobley, and others. At ASU Laboratory for Energy And Power Solutions (LEAPS) we are proud to be at the forefront of powering the future of sustainable, resilient, and equitable energy for all. ?? Great work team! Building partnerships to accelerate energy access and equity.
We are excited to release information on 75 remote off-grid sites in Fiji that have undergone community engagement, site assessment, and technical and financial analysis with plans leading to tender and construction in the next couple years. Excellent work led by Elena van Hove and Dylan Lanning at Arizona State University, with partners Taniela Tabuya and others at Global Green Growth Institute, Adib Naslé and more at Xendee, Fiji Department of Energy and Fiji Ministry of Finance, UNDP and UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji, Fiji Rural Electrification Fund, and Ayu Abdullah and more at COMET - Community Energy Toolkit. Thanks especially to U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) providing financial support for this critical assessment phase to unlock $40-60M in capital to implement. Thanks also to Romney Kellogg, Ombuki Brighton, Elizabeth Obiero, Daniel Mu?oz-Smith, ASU Laboratory for Energy And Power Solutions (LEAPS), and many others. More to come… https://lnkd.in/gVhJGaZ3

We're excited to be partnering with the Factor[e] Ventures team to support Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio on renewable energy system planning for large scale cassava farming and ethanol manufacturing! Learn more about Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio and our work together below.
??Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio receives a $50,000 grant from the AmpUp consortium! Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio , a company establishing rural bioeconomies in Kenya through large-scale cassava farming and local manufacturing of ethanol, received a USD 50,000 grant from the AmpUp consortium, a partnership through USAID that includes Factor[e] Ventures, Power Africa, and Arizona State University. As a component of the grant, Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio will share its expertise with Factor[e] Ventures and Arizona State University while receiving technical support from both organizations to scale up manufacturing facilities capable of producing up to 75 million liters of ethanol cooking fuel per year. This sizable increase in production can help reduce reliance on wood and charcoal for cooking and increase local production and use of ethanol, over 95% of which is currently imported across Kenya. Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio aims to support smallholder farmers, most of whom are women, by increasing incomes in farming communities while decreasing reliance on pollutants across the country. Learn more about Giraffe Bioenergy - A venture in residence at Delta40 Studio , the innovative partnership that will help transform cassava farming and clean cooking across Kenya, and the AmpUp consortium in a recent press release from Arizona State University: https://lnkd.in/epE8gAR3 #cleancooking #smallholderfarmers #ethanolproduction #Cassavafarming

Great job team!
We're exited to support the Hopi Utilities Corporation and the Hopi Tribe in a $25M effort to electrify homes and support low-income families with solar-storage solutions under the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Solar for All program! Thanks Fletcher Wilkinson for spearheading this effort and involving our team at Arizona State University and the ASU Laboratory for Energy And Power Solutions (LEAPS). Thanks James Nelson for leading on behalf of ASU to translate innovative research into direct public value, Dylan Lanning for your thoughtful expertise engaging communities in solution co-creation and ownership, and Alexander Mobley and Sarah Johnson, M. Ed. for delivering engaging training programs to support job creation and economic development. We also look forward to working with COMET - Community Energy Toolkit again to enhance awareness of power system functionality and right-sizing for community and household needs. "Hopi Utilities Corporation and partners Arizona State University and Hopi Renewable Energy Office will deploy residential solar and storage systems on the Hopi Reservation. The Hopi Tribe is a chronically underserved, disadvantaged, coal-impacted community that suffers from high poverty rates and extreme energy inequity. 35% of Hopi households do not have electricity access, and households that are grid-connected suffer from frequent and extended outages. This program will provide direct benefits to low-income and unelectrified households, mobilizing additional financing and tax—all at no up-front cost to residents." https://lnkd.in/g6XbDZwK Kyle Squires Sally C.
