Arizona State University’s ICMA Student Chapter cultivates the next generation of local management leaders.
关于我们
International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is the premier professional organization for local government professionals. ICMA seeks to create excellence in local governance by advocating for and developing professional local government management worldwide. The organization provides support in the form of publications, the Knowledge Network, webinars, and various other tools to innumerable persons interested in local government management. The Arizona City/County Management Association is the local chapter of the ICMA. Many School of Public Affairs alumni and faculty are members of ICMA and ACMA and support the mission and activities of the Student Chapter. Arizona State University’s ICMA (ASU-ICMA) Student Chapter was founded in the fall of 2012 and organizes several events including tours of facilities in the Phoenix Metro Area, discussions with active and retired managers, and other learning opportunities. The chapter continues to grow in undergraduate and graduate student members and seeks opportunities to connect student members with School of Public Affairs (SPA) alumni and local government representatives for informational and networking opportunities throughout the academic year.

2024 ACMA Next Generation Conference ?? Tucson, Arizona Proud to have the ASU ICMA Student Chapter represented at this year’s Arizona City/County Management Association (ACMA) Next Generation Conference! As students, it can be challenging to attend multi-day or out-of-state professional development events. That’s why we’re especially grateful for the Next Generation Leadership Conference, which offers an accessible and impactful space for local government professionals and aspiring leaders. This conference fosters leadership conversations, mentoring opportunities, and knowledge-sharing with others committed to public service. A special shoutout to Zach Hill, one of our Chapter Board members, who did an amazing job leading a panel on the importance of integrity in local government! ?? We’re also proud of our members Maylee Acosta, Miguel Cantú, and Samantha Lozano Rodriguez for actively engaging with speakers and making the most of every opportunity to ask thoughtful questions. Lastly, it was a pleasure connecting with Doris Mensah from the UA ICMA Student Chapter! Events like these strengthen our networks and set the stage for future collaborations between student chapters. Looking forward to what’s next!

When you build a mile of roadway, you can travel one mile. But when you build a mile of runway, you can travel anywhere in the world. Today, the ICMA Student Chapter had the incredible opportunity to tour Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and see firsthand how it operates. A huge thank you to Matthew Heil for welcoming us and giving us a comprehensive look at the airport’s impact on the Valley and the entire state of Arizona. From making a full circle around the airport perimeter to speaking with the amazing staff in the command center and the special teams from the fire department who work tirelessly to keep the airport safe, it was an eye-opening experience. Truly an amazing tour that deepened our appreciation for the complex operations and dedicated professionals that ensure Sky Harbor runs smoothly every day. #PhoenixSkyHarbor #Aviation #AirportOperations #PublicSafety #Infrastructure #Arizona
