As we work to close the digital divide in Arizona, a new set of broadband maps released by AZ-1 help to tell the story of where gaps in reliable internet connectivity persist and the communities most affected: https://lnkd.in/g8Ra9fsK The Broadband Mapping project, which is publicly available, now includes data sources to showcase community anchor institutions, as well as help to identify demographics for communities and populations who can benefit most. Through the Maricopa County Broadband Initiative, Arizona State University is bringing together the resources and teams needed to bridge the digital divide across infrastructure, access and community support. A commitment to student success through GPT-powered solutions. Students and faculty at Arizona State University collaborated in the latest no-code hackathon, hosted by ASU Enterprise Technology Community Partners and OpenAI: https://lnkd.in/g_E5XjtY Projects included custom GPTs aimed at reducing student stress and making a tough course more enjoyable and engaging. “Make it something that students want to use. Christiane Reves, an assistant teaching professor at ASU, is tackling the challenges of language learning in the age of AI. Reves developed an AI tool called Language Buddy to help students practice German through real-world conversations. Thanks to a partnership between ASU and OpenAI students can engage in interactive dialogue while easing the anxiety of speaking a foreign language. Learn more: https://ow.ly/19t550TlxOZ

Last week, over 70 students at Arizona State University gathered to explore the use of #AI to help tackle sustainability issues: https://lnkd.in/gY5ncAv9 "That’s what college is all about — we’re taking new technology and applying it to the real world," shared ASU student Skyy Teegarden. In collaboration with University College at ASU, the Sustainable Arizona Spark Challenge invited faculty experts to teach about Arizona mining practices and the foundations of Principled Innovation. Students broke out into teams to brainstorm ideas and leverage generative AI tools. Teegarden and fellow team members Joseph Raj Vishal, Isaiah Lazaro, Joshua Morgan and Grant Scherling took home first place for their AI agent design, while other groups that placed won cash prizes as well.
