Our chapter is proud to announce the next EC Spotlight on Michael Eckert, Gamma Omega’s Chapter Vice President of Asset Development. Mike was initiated in the Spring of 2023, and as a newly initiated brother, he quickly became involved with the Recruitment Committee. He worked alongside the recruitment chairs to host Speed Dating, one of the chapter's favorite events during Recruitment Week. The following semester, Mike joined the Asset Development Committee as our Percentage Nights Chair, in addition to serving as the Intramural Chair. After a semester on the Asset Development Committee, Mike recognized the untapped potential within the chapter. He saw opportunities for improvement in areas such as sponsorships and event planning, which the chapter wasn't fully leveraging. Driven by his passion for taking the chapter to the next level and growing as a leader, Mike ran for Vice President of Asset Development (VPAD). As VPAD, Mike’s primary goal this semester was to secure Delta Sigma Pi’s first corporate sponsorship in two years. He achieved this by successfully partnering with Northwestern Mutual. Another goal was to collaborate with other committees to host DSP Percentage Nights alongside their events, which helped boost turnout. Mike also organized several fun fundraising events, both of which were highly successful! The biggest challenge Mike faced this semester was setting up the first corporate sponsorship. With no former VPADs to consult for guidance on the process and no established pricing for sponsorship features, this task was particularly difficult. However, Mike overcame these challenges by staying organized, planning ahead, and ensuring he was always prepared for any requests related to the partnership. Mike’s dedication to securing a sponsor for the chapter is deeply appreciated and will enable us to continue building valuable relationships with outside businesses and organizations. He has already accomplished so much for the chapter, and we can’t wait to see what else he achieves before the semester ends!

This past week, the Alumni Relations committee hosted a Founders Day event to celebrate 117 years of brotherhood since the founding of Delta Sigma Pi on November 7th, 1907. Collegiate members and alumni gathered in a classroom to share their experiences and reflect on the lasting impact of the fraternity. The event began with a presentation from the alumni committee, which outlined the origins of Delta Sigma Pi. Founded in 1907 at New York University’s School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance, the fraternity was established by Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello, Henry Albert Tienken, and Harold Valentine Jacobs. Following the presentation, an alumni panel introduced themselves, sharing their post-graduation experiences and reflecting on why they joined Delta Sigma Pi in college. Each alum spoke about how the fraternity has influenced their personal lives and careers, emphasizing the lasting benefits of brotherhood and professional development. They also offered advice to current members, encouraging them to take on leadership roles and build meaningful connections. Swati Kumar, Vice President of Alumni Relations, shared that the evening left collegiate members "inspired and connected”, with a deeper appreciation for the “lifelong impact of Delta Sigma Pi’s brotherhood”. Celebrating our chapter’s history is a privilege. Learning about how our past has shaped the Gamma Omega chapter we know today is truly inspiring. This event served as a powerful reminder that brotherhood doesn’t end at graduation—it lasts a lifetime!

For the next EC Spotlight, meet the Gamma Omega Chapter Vice President of Alumni Relations, Swati Kumar. Swati was initiated in the spring semester of her freshman year—Spring 2023. Since then, her involvement has included serving on the Recruitment Committee, Alumni Relations Committee, as DEI Chair, and organizing the Big/Little Challenge for new initiates in Spring 2024. Upon entering college, Swati joined DSP to connect with like-minded individuals with similar majors. Additionally, joining DSP was seen as a valuable opportunity for both professional development and personal growth. This fall, Swati’s goal as VPAR has been to increase engagement through events to strengthen the connection between alumni and chapter members. Specifically, she's focusing on organizing impactful events such as the Founders Day Alumni Panel, which brings alumni and current members together to commemorate chapter achievements and honor the legacy of the organization. For this event, Swati and her committee have invited alumni to share personal DSP journeys—including initiation stories, career paths, reasons for joining DSP, positions held within the fraternity, and favorite memories as brothers. Alumni will also offer insights and advice for current members, fostering an environment of mentorship and learning. One lesson Swati learned while serving on the Executive Committee is how crucial it is to communicate clearly and consistently. Managing a committee of four has helped her develop delegation skills, including the ability to guide others by assigning tasks based on each person’s strengths. Each role served has provided new learning opportunities, whether organizing events, managing committees, or public speaking. DSP has also demonstrated the value of mentorship, leadership, and building connections—elements that have contributed to increased confidence in professional life. This role has shown Swati how much can be accomplished when alumni and current members come together with pride and honor for the chapter. We are excited about everything Swati and her committee will accomplish this semester and deeply grateful for their efforts to keep its alumni connected to our chapter!

Carey, especially as a commuting student. Since her initiation, she has actively participated in the Marketing and Professional Committees and served as Recruitment Co-Chair in Spring 2024. As Vice President of Marketing, Hasley oversees ten committee members and seven positions. Her primary goal is to enhance the volume and variety of content shared on DSP’s social media platforms. She aims to highlight the dedication our brothers put into planning events and to showcase the various DSP service events, professional events, percentage nights, and more, ensuring that everyone stays informed about the chapter's activities. Throughout her DSP journey, Hasley has experienced significant personal and professional growth. She says, “Joining DSP has helped me grow into a more confident and self-assured version of myself,” attributing this transformation to the support and guidance of her brothers. The opportunities she’s gained through committee work, running recruitment, and her current position as Vice President of Marketing have provided her with invaluable experience that she plans to apply in her professional career. Hasley’s commitment to enhancing DSP’s social media presence, highlighting events, and showcasing our brother's accomplishments is helping the chapter gain more recognition. For our next EC Spotlight, we want to highlight our VP of Pledge Education, Mason Beckmann, whose 28 pledges were just initiated this past Saturday! Mason's journey within DSP is a testament to the opportunities and growth the chapter offers. He joined DSP to find a smaller community within W.P. Carey and to hone his leadership skills. Since his initiation in the Fall of 2022, he has held various positions within the chapter, including roles on the Professional and Community Service Committees and as Vice President of Chapter Operations. As Pledge Educator, Mason's responsibility was to educate the pledges on the chapter's operations and history. He aimed to encourage them to be active and engaged to get the most out of their DSP pledge experience, while also getting them excited to be involved in the chapter once they were initiated. Mason said that his ideal outcome as Pledge Educator was for the new pledge class to "be excited to get involved" once they were fully initiated into the chapter, and he believes that this was accomplished. Pledge education is a cornerstone of our chapter, shaping the future and character of our organization. As a pledge, Mason was inspired by the dedication of our older members, which fueled his desire to give back to DSP. He aimed to be a role model for the newly initiated class, ensuring they were as excited to contribute to our chapter as he was. DSP has immensely helped Mason progress as a professional and in his career. He noted that there were "many opportunities to serve our chapter that prepared me for internships and the process of securing them." Additionally, Mason learned how to connect with people in such a large, diverse organization. Being Vice President of Pledge Education this semester pushed Mason outside his comfort zone and allowed him to be the best resource and mentor he could be. A huge thank you to Mason for his work with our newest pledge class! We can’t wait to see what these new members accomplish!
