  • Vivek Sharma, Ph.D. graduated with a #PhD in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in #2013, embarking on a journey that led him to become an Engineering Manager at Intel Corporation. At Intel’s largest high-volume factory, Vivek develops cutting-edge process technologies for manufacturing high-end electronic chips, reflecting his technical expertise and commitment to innovation in a rapidly evolving industry. A highlight of Vivek’s time at ASU was his PhD project on the impact of dust storms on the output of #photovoltaic systems on the Tempe campus. This research deepened his understanding of solar energy efficiency and aligned perfectly with ASU’s #sustainability mission. Among the many courses he took, EEE531 Semiconductor Device Theory, taught by the esteemed Dr. Dieter Schroder, stood out. Known as “the #God of #Semiconductor Devices,” Dr. Schroder’s legendary lectures left a lasting impression on Vivek. He fondly recalls the joke: “If Dieter visited the Vatican and appeared on a balcony, some observer would say, ‘There’s Dieter Schroder. Who is the guy in the robe standing next to him?’” Since graduating, Vivek has developed innovative manufacturing processes for Intel’s 8th through 12th generation processors, significantly advancing technology and enhancing product performance. Each project showcases his skills and creativity in engineering. Outside of work, Vivek cherishes memories of climbing #A-Mountain during the fall semester, enjoying the breathtaking views and sense of achievement after rigorous study. This connection to the campus and the surrounding natural beauty has always inspired him. In addition to his professional pursuits, he loves exploring new technology and spending time outdoors, often hiking and biking. Mentoring #young engineers has become a passion, allowing him to share insights from his journey. Vivek is one of our esteemed alumnus who would like to extend his guidance and support to our fellow #SunDevils. He can be reached out on #LinkedIn and also actively engages in the alumni #networking events hosted by Indian Alumni Chapter - ASU Alumni Association
