Have you heard about the New Carbon Economy Consortium (NCEC)? Recently launched, this alliance of universities, national labs and NGOs is working in tandem with industry leaders to co-create a carbon-conscious world. The ASU Center for Negative Carbon Emissions is a founding member and key player in this new collaboration. Keep up with their work online (https://lnkd.in/gUWJ-srx) or on LinkedIn??
At the New Carbon Economy Consortium, we recognize that we are at a critical juncture in terms of GHG emissions and their impact on our planet. The latest emissions Gap Report from the UN Environment Programme (Figure ES.3) illustrates just how drastic the gap between where we need to be and where we are is. Hence, we know we need a world that captures and stores more carbon dioxide?(CO?) than it emits in this decisive decade. By convening researchers from across institutions and disciplines to pose new research questions, share resources, and develop pathways towards the widespread deployment of carbon removal solutions, we have set forth an Innovation Plan for a new carbon economy. In this report, you can expect to find a technical review of solutions, the identification of research gaps, and recommendations for the Consortium’s future work. Thank you to all those organizations and researchers working on this important issue worldwide.? Special thanks to founding members Arizona State University, Peter Schlosser, Amanda Ellis, Klaus Lackner, and Carbon180, Erin Burns.
