  • January is National Radon Awareness Month, a time when the?U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)?encourages people to test their homes for radon. Why is January Radon Action Month important? Radon is a health risk. Radon is a radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer, especially for people who have never smoked. Winter is a good time to test Radon levels are usually highest in the winter, so testing your home during this time can help you identify radon exposure. Radon is invisible Radon is a gas that you can't see, smell, or taste, so it's important to test your home to identify radon exposure. What can you do during National Radon Action Month? -Test your home for radon -Learn about radon and the risks it poses -Encourage your family and friends to test their homes -Attend a National Radon Action Month event -Spread the word about radon and its health risks Where can you learn more about radon? -Visit the EPA's Consumer's Guide to Radon Reduction -Visit the American Lung Association's radon action month page Thank you Matt Laskowski for presenting this most valuable safety topic. #RadonAwareness

  • Member request: Who does your company use for First Aid, Occ Med care in our local area? Are you happy with them, and do they know the ins and outs of OSHA recordable injuries? There is a consensus that there are few clinics and medical professionals who offer services for the gap between a small employee complaint and urgent care. We are thinking about making a technical meeting out of this and encouraging local medical professionals to attend in order to hear the safety pro’s side of the story. Comment below or send us a message with your experience! Thank you! **Networking is the best part of ASSP membership ??
