It’s with a profound sense of pride and gratitude that I pass the Minnesota Technology Association leadership baton to Joel Crandall today. Having worked in various capacities with Joel over the past 15 years and knowing what a capable leader he is, I am thrilled to welcome Joel back to MnTech as its new CEO. If you are a member of our MnTech community and not connected with Joel, I urge you to do so. Congratulations, Joel, on your first day back and I look forward to all you will accomplish in the months and years ahead, my friend!

Jeff Tollefson, we wish you the best on your next adventure. Thanks for all you've done for the Minnesota association community! (And enjoy that well-deserved recharging time at the cabin.) Joel Crandall, congrats & can't wait to see what's next for the Minnesota Technology Association! ??
Last October, I announced my decision to step down as CEO of the Minnesota Technology Association in 2025, setting in motion a board-driven process to identify the right leader to guide MnTech into its next phase of growth and impact. Today, I’m thrilled to share that Joel Crandall will be returning to MnTech as our next President and CEO. Many of you will remember Joel from his previous leadership roles at MnTech, including Vice President of Programs & Talent and Executive Director of the MnTech Foundation. Most recently, he led a leadership development and upskilling initiative for technology leaders at U.S. Bank. His deep understanding of Minnesota’s tech ecosystem, commitment to talent development, and passion for our mission make him the ideal person to lead MnTech forward. Having worked alongside Joel for more than 15 years - first at Genesys Works and later at MnTech - I’ve seen firsthand his ability to build strong relationships, drive meaningful impact, and lead with vision. I have every confidence that he will bring fresh energy and valuable insights to MnTech’s mission and programming. It’s with great pride that I hand the leadership baton to Joel on March 17, and I look forward to seeing all that MnTech will accomplish under his leadership. As for me, I’ll remain in an advisory role through May to support a smooth transition and ensure continuity in MnTech’s public policy initiatives. After that, I plan to take some time this summer to recharge at our cabin and reflect on what’s next. While I don’t know what the future holds, I do know my passion for leadership and community impact remains strong. I’m particularly drawn to the idea of once again leading a youth-serving organization, but also excited to explore new opportunities and see where this next chapter takes me. Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the MnTech community. The friendships, partnerships, and collective achievements over the past six years have been truly rewarding. Thank you for your support, collaboration, and commitment to advancing technology in Minnesota. I look forward to staying connected and continuing to champion this incredible community in new and impactful ways.
