I really enjoyed this session with Dr. Brian K. Bridges, the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education. As a PhD student and full-time practitioner, it was great to hear about the importance of the synergy between research and practice; they do not exist in a vacuum, and it is important for scholars and policymakers to recognize the importance in each other's work to inform and amplify their own agendas. Thanks to the Association for the Study of Higher Education for facilitating this conversation! Through my doctoral work in the UGA McBee Institute of Higher Education, I am fortunate to learn first-hand from Dr. Erik Ness and other faculty members about the ways research, practice, and policy form the three bases upon which higher education functions and progresses. #scholarpractitioner
