Seeing so many people come together at the APR networking reception was a powerful reminder of how far our organization has come—and how much more we can achieve. The event brought together professionals from across the plastics recycling value chain to share ideas, discuss challenges, and explore what’s next. ? Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect. Looking forward to more meaningful discussions in this morning’s reclaimer panel with Keke Herron, Director of Quality at WM; Kola Ayinuola, PhD Ayinuola, Manager of Materials Science at Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc.; and Paul Bahou, President of GLOBAL PLASTICS RECYCLING.? ????

APR is an international non-profit focused exclusively on improving recycling for plastics.
关于我们
APR is a US-based international non-profit and the only North American organization focused exclusively on improving recycling for plastics. Our tools & resources help companies design packaging that can be recycled, support innovations that overcome existing recycling challenges, and encourage stable and reliable markets for post-consumer recycled content. All so that the plastic recyclers—those that we represent—can successfully turn plastic waste into a new resource.

The APR Design? Guide for Plastics Recyclability is transforming how packaging is designed—over 30 years, it has set a global standard that ensures materials are truly compatible with the recycling system. It is the definitive source of truth to improve recyclability, minimize contamination, reduce costs, and support a circular economy. But it’s more than just a document—it’s a collaborative movement by recycling and packaging leaders. Experts like Shannon Moore (Kellanova), Cherish Changala (Revolution Sustainable Solutions, LLC), Matt Levesque (Plastics Forming Enterprises LLC), Diane Marret (Berry Global, Inc.), Jesse Luis (L'Oréal), Tim Bohlke (Resource Label Group), Melissa Craig (The Clorox Company), Tom Frantz (Technimark), J. Scott Saunders (KW Plastics), and Nikola Juhasz (Sun Chemical) share how the APR Design? Guide helps them achieve recyclability goals. Trusted by brands, recyclers, and regulatory bodies worldwide, the APR Design? Guide is the north star for plastic packaging. To everyone who has contributed their time and expertise—THANK YOU for helping millions of packages avoid landfill and find a second life. Here’s to 30 years—and many more to come! ???? https://lnkd.in/gWVrqQGq #APRDesignGuide #PlasticsRecycling #SustainablePackaging

Celebrating Innovation at the Plastic Recycling Conference! APR is proud to honor the inaugural APR Recycling Leadership Award winners—trailblazers in plastics recyclability driving transformative change. From innovative package design to game-changing recycling technologies, these leaders are shaping a circular future for plastics. Join us in celebrating: ?? Debra Wilson for her decades of leadership in standardizing design for recyclability. ?? Unifi for advancing textile-to-textile recycling with REPREVE?. ?? Colgate-Palmolive for transforming toothpaste tubes into recyclable packaging. ?? KW Container for pioneering curbside rPP utilization at scale. As we recognize these outstanding contributions, we also commend industry pioneers Matthew Levesque, PureCycle Technologies, Avery Dennison, and Kraft Heinz, whose efforts continue to push the boundaries of design innovation, PCR use, and recycling technology. This recognition comes as we celebrate 30 years of the APR Design? Guide for Plastics Recyclability—the gold standard for designing truly recyclable packaging. ???? Meet the winners and hear their insights at the PRC Lunch & Learn panel tomorrow at 1pm in Potomac C. Lunch will be available outside the session room. A recent op-ed in The Hill argued for abandoning the EPA’s national recycling plan, but the facts tell a different story. Plastic recycling is not only working—it’s a critical part of the U.S. economy. Over 93% of recovered plastics stay in North America to meet growing demand. The industry directly supports more than 171,000 American jobs, with AI and robotics driving even greater innovation. Every year, billions of pounds of plastic are recycled into new products, strengthening domestic supply chains and reducing waste. APR’s Steve Alexander sets the record straight on why recycling is a pillar of U.S. manufacturing, not a policy to discard. Read his response: https://ow.ly/qtlb50Vl7lu

Seeing is Believing: Join Us for the First-Ever Recycling in Action month!???? How many times have you been asked by friends, “Does my recycling actually get recycled?” Misleading headlines discourage participation and undermine efforts to expand recycling infrastructure. This May, recycling facilities nationwide are opening their doors for Recycling in Action, a month-long initiative designed to show the public exactly how materials are sorted, processed, and turned into new products. From state-of-the-art sorting technology to the creation of new materials, these tours will show firsthand how recycling works, why it matters and why it’s worth investing in. Every single day, 340 truckloads worth of plastic are kept out of landfills thanks to recycling efforts across the country. ?? But we need strong policies and continued public trust to keep the momentum going. Want to see #RecyclingInAction? Spread the word and find a participating location near you: RecyclingInAction.org #APR #Recycling #Sustainability
