The Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) joined nearly 2,000 county leaders from across the country for the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference March 1-4. Featured speakers included two cabinet secretaries along with members of Congress from both the U.S. House and Senate, including Oregon Senator Ron Wyden. Recently, AOC County College participants were treated to a tour of the Oregon State Capitol by our own legislative affairs manager, Branden Pursinger, who shared trivia (DYK the location of Oregon's capital city has moved from Oregon City to Salem to Corvallis, and then back to Salem?) about the building and grounds. AOC is delighted to welcome the 2025 class of County College! AOC Executive Director Gina Nikkel welcomed this year's cohort, comprised of 33 commissioners, judges, and staff representing twenty counties across Oregon. We extend our sincere thanks to Oregon State University for their generous hospitality. This first session, featuring presentations from the Oregon Government Ethics Commission, Benton County, and OSU Extension Services, provided valuable insights into county government, public meetings law, and the legislative process.
