Call for Expressions of Interest: Host the Annual Conference of the Association of Law Teachers (2026) The Association of Law Teachers (ALT) is excited to announce a call for expressions of interest to host its forthcoming annual conference in 2026. The ALT has been at the forefront of legal education in the UK since its establishment in 1965. Over the years, it has served as a platform for collaboration, innovation and the exchange of ideas among legal educators. The ALT Committee is seeking expressions of interest from universities wishing to host this prestigious conference. The ALT’s annual conference is the main annual event of the Association, where the vibrant, welcoming and inclusive community of academics, professionals, and practitioners that the ALT represents come together to engage in discourse on all dimensions of legal education. As a potential host institution, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the conference experience and providing a memorable setting for colleagues to convene. Hosting the conference will not only showcase your institution's commitment to legal education but also offer a platform to highlight your academic programmes, faculty expertise and facilities to an esteemed audience of law teachers, scholars and professionals. The conference usually takes place on the Monday and Tuesday prior to Good Friday and hosts should be mindful of potential clashes with other conferences (notably the SLSA) held around that time. In 2023 we were hosted by the University of Westminster, in 2024 by Swansea University and the 2025 conference is due to take place at the University of Strathclyde. Application Criteria and Tender Form are attached Please submit expressions of interest to Dr Steven Montagu-Cairns at [email protected] no later than 12pm Friday 31st January. We will evaluate all submissions carefully, considering various factors such as location, facilities, logistical capabilities, and the overall commitment to ensuring a memorable conference experience.

Thank you to all our early career members and brilliant speakers who attended our 2nd?ALT Early Career Symposium and made it both incredibly useful and so much fun! With sessions on innovative teaching, career development, mental health and well-being as well as utilizing career experience in the classroom, over a dozen speakers shared their thoughts and experiences with attendees. Networking was a key theme of the event, with early career academics being able to reach out and begin to make supportive connections that will hopefully last the rest of their careers. “I'll hopefully be staying in touch with a few people that I met at the event. I learnt so much. I will definitely be using some of the techniques from the innovative teaching session this year!” The organisers are exceptionally grateful to the delegates for participating in the event, speakers for their fantastic contributions, and to Leeds Trinity University, CILEX Law School, The College of Legal Practice, University of Edinburgh Law School and London South Bank University, who sponsored the event. And the ALT are very grateful to the organisers, Jessica Guth, Cameron G., Dr. Katherine Langley and Noel McGuirk. Here are some of our hard-working delegates collaborating to think about joys and challenges in their teaching...
