关于我们

With an ongoing commitment to equity and inclusion, the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) shapes the educational landscape for independent schools through leadership, education, service, and strategic advocacy. With over 200 member schools, AISNE is one of the largest regional independent school associations in the country and represents a diverse range of schools in terms of size, pedagogy, religious affiliation, and, of course, mission. We serve as a place where schools turn for inspiration, to look beyond today and imagine the possibilities of the future. AISNE is a place where excellence - in all its forms - is celebrated and exalted. New England is a place of tradition and innovation, never standing still but never forgetting the past. AISNE is committed to inspiring progress and advancing excellence as we move forward, together.

The Association of Independent Schools in New England accreditation process is a powerful tool used by independent schools to ensure they are delivering their mission in the best way possible. It’s also an opportunity to meet inspiring educators and re-energize. I recently had the privilege of leading a team of thoughtful colleagues from eight New England schools on an accreditation visit to The Pike School. Thanks to Beth Friedman from AISNE for supporting the team and to Will Powers and the Pike team for hosting us. Kudos to my new friends for their hard work: Margaret Schlachter, M.Ed., Matt Kessler, Michelle LaMarre, Sarah Conrad, Judi O'Brien, Dr. Laneisha Gray, Savannah Armstrong, and Ruth Condori-Aragon. If you’re in an AISNE school and have not yet served on a visiting team, volunteer! It’s a great learning experience.

  • Thank you, Pinkerton Academy, for hosting our Town Academy leaders last week for a discussion about the public-private identity of this unique group of AISNE members. We loved visiting your campus and seeing your students in action, particularly the culinary arts students who prepared delicious meals for us in the Astro Cafe!

  • We’re looking forward to your presentation at next week’s Business and Operations Conference, OunceIT LLC! Thanks for working with several of our member schools to highlight how cross role collaboration leads to operational excellence.

We had a very productive planning meeting with a stellar group of school leaders from Concord Academy, Tenacre Country Day School, Thacher Montessori School, and Atrium School to prepare for the Association of Independent Schools in New England's Business and Operations Conference in exactly one week. We shared some great ideas for questions to ask, conversations to have, and how to engage with session participants. That's right -- to prepare for a session on the power of partnerships, we 'walked the walk' and engaged in some powerful partnering. We are very much looking forward to sharing our experiences benefitting from the power of partnerships, and also sharing some lessons learned from times when efforts didn't quite yield the hoped for outcomes. This will be a very engaging session and we are hoping for robust audience interaction --- maybe even building some new partnerships. Will we see you there?

Teachers and administrators from Nantucket Lighthouse School visited Birches today. We are two dynamic small schools with a shared vision of joyful, child-centered learning and a deep appreciation of the natural world. Educators learning from each other is the best!

The inaugural, sold-out She’s Local Conference for Girls last night was absolutely incredible! We are so proud of our Board of Directors, which included 11 girls from Woodward and other schools, alongside dedicated adults from various organizations who helped guide them. This event was a testament to the power of local girls supporting and inspiring one another! A huge thank you to our phenomenal keynote speakers, Maria Milagros and Derith Cass, whose words sparked inspiration and action. ✨ Derith helped us lean into her LEAP philosophy, embracing the mindset that this is the year I’ll be stronger, braver, kinder, fierce, and unstoppable. ✨ Maria showed us how to find growth in our struggles, transform our challenges into change, and truly believe in ourselves. An extra special thank you to Jen Maseda, CEO of She’s Local, for believing in girl power and for helping us organize this incredible event. We couldn’t have done it without you! We can’t wait for next year’s event! Here’s to empowering the next generation of unstoppable women! #ShesLocal #GirlsLeadership #Inspiration #LEAP #BelieveInYourself

  • Getting ready for our spring accreditation visits by prepping some treat bags for the amazing volunteers who staff our Visiting Teams! Accreditation relies on the hard work and expertise of faculty, staff, and administrators from across the AISNE membership to come together to support an accredited school’s journey of continuous improvement. Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who step up to play this role every year!
