This week, the California Airports Council proudly hosted the 2024 Airport Leadership Development Course (ALDC), which brought together future aviation leaders. A highlight was hearing from Gregorio Zarco C.M. , MPA Airport Manager at San Bernardino County Department of Airports and a valued Association of California Airports member. As a 2023 ALDC graduate, Greg shared his experience and insights with this year’s participants, inspiring the next generation of airport professionals. Recently, Altaport joined the "Futureproof Your Airports" panel at the ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA AIRPORTS (ACA) Fall Conference. Along with representatives from Joby Aviation, Mead & Hunt, and HMMH, we discussed how Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and aircraft electrification will transform small airports, presenting both challenges and opportunities. Key topics included: - Preparing for AAM's impact on local airport roles. - Adopting tools like ADS-B for situational awareness. - Engaging communities on noise concerns. - Planning for future electrification needs. Spent a wonderful few days with some great airport management leaders from California looking to best improve their airports and support the national airspace system. Kudos to ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA AIRPORTS for organizing this event that had a record setting 170 attendees, thank you too to the Vertical Aviation International, NBAA, AOPA and to the CA state aeronautics division and FAA representatives from the north and south that shared vital details.

It was a pleasure to represent the AAM OEM perspective at this year’s Association of California Airports (ACA) annual conference. I’ve developed a deep appreciation over the years for ACA’s invaluable work supporting airports across the state. This year’s conference brought together the FAA, national organizations, airport leaders, and many more. NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna, C.M. joined representatives from AOPA, National Business Aviation Association, and the Vertical Aviation International to discuss the state of the industry at the ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA AIRPORTS annual conference. Castagna later participated with leaders from the Federal Aviation Administration, Vitol Aviation, and World Fuel Services on a panel addressing the unleaded fuel issue and providing an update on progress of the industry and EAGLE initiative. #bizav #climbingfast
