Exciting news for Kodiak! Rural Alaska Community Action Program, Inc. (RurAL CAP) has been awarded a $1.06 million federal grant for Kodiak’s Self-Help Housing Program. This means more affordable homeownership is one step closer to arriving in our community! Kodiak Island Housing Authority is the local lead on this program. Koniag President Shauna Hegna joined RurAL CAP in Soldotna to celebrate the 100th new home built as part of the Self-Help Housing Program. “We were happy to celebrate this milestone with RurAL CAP in Soldotna,” said Hegna. “We appreciate the work they do and couldn’t be more excited to see this program expand into Kodiak!” Through this program, working families build their own homes, reducing costs and creating a neighborhood that any family would be proud to call their own.
