Still buzzing from an amazing 2025 Hawaii Middle Grades Summit! In addition to bringing together more than 1,400 middle grades educators, we celebrated the 1st HIDOE Schools of Distinction & recognized staff across the state w/the inaugural Adult Advocate Award. From teachers to custodial staff, these professionals make sure kids feel they belong at school. ?? We ?? seeing our Schools of Distinction in action!
I loved spending the day with Custer Baker Intermediate School celebrating their new status as an AMLE School of Distinction. When staff attended the induction in November at AMLE24, they got to walk our “famous” red carpet into the ceremony. Not wanting students to miss out, yesterday they laid out a red carpet for kids to walk into the lunch room! ?? Thank you, Cheryl Moran, for your leadership and commitment to your school community. (And for letting me try my hand as a printing press apprentice on your way-cool simulation program!)
