AIM opposes Tennessee SB 9 and HB 32 which would allow hospitals to directly employ hospital-based physicians including emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, and pathologists and, as a result, give the hospital control over decisions they should not be making. AIM advocates for a world where physicians have control over the management and delivery of care and can work directly with their patients to make medical decisions and deliver patient-centered, cost-efficient care without corporate hindrance. Join us in opposing this legislation proposed in Tennessee going before the Senate Health and Welfare Committee on March 26.

An update from our president Dr. Marco Fernandez, following his attendance at The OrthoForum annual meeting: Honored to join The OrthoForum at their annual meeting as part of the Coalition for Patient Centered Care. A last-minute session turned standing room only, featuring an insightful talk by Michael Suk, MD, JD, MPH, MBA, FACS, FACHE, Chair of the AMA board of trustees, emphasizing physician independence and physician led care. Meeting Adam J. Bruggeman, MD, MHA, FAAOS, FAOA, Chair of the Council for Advocacy for AAOS, provided valuable perspectives on navigating corporate medicine, both on Capitol Hill and within the medical community. Engaging discussions on addressing corporatized care included sharing experiences on private equity, with special recognition for Adrienne Towsen, MD, a beacon of courage and inspiration in advocating for patients and colleagues. Representing anesthesia and grassroots organizations like the Association for Independent Medicine, Physicians for Patient Protection, American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), Take Medicine Back, and the Alliance of Independent Dentists was a privilege. AMA's recent National Advocacy Conference drew 700 physicians in a "White Coat Event" championing Medicare reform, resonating positively with attendees.
